Feb-06-02, 01:50 PM (EST) "UP C60AC file fix fix?" Is there a second fix for the Union Pacific C60AC? i start out an activity; theres like 9 feet of space between the rear coupler of the first unit and the front coupler of the second. Prehaps this has been addressed before, but how do I correct this? Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-07-02, 05:13 AM (EST) 1. "RE: UP C60AC file fix fix?" You have to edit C60AC ".eng" file using Wordpad.The last number of the 'InertiaTensor' numbers is too big.Edit the line - "InertiaTensor ( Box (3.594m 4.724m 21.85m) )". Change the value in bold of the .eng file to that value shown here (21.85).

Coupling (
Type ( Automatic )
Spring (
Stiffness ( 1e6N/m 5e6N/m )
Damping ( 1e6N/m 1e6N/m )
Break ( 1.1e7N 1.1e7N )
r0 ( 20cm 30cm )
)
comment( CouplingHasRigidConnection () )
Velocity ( 0.1m/s )
)
Is this off?

Feb-07-02, 09:06 AM (EST) 4. "RE: UP C60AC file fix fix?" You have mail. The coupler height is a function of how the orignal file was generated. Can't help there.
Thanks,

Feb-07-02, 04:13 PM (EST) 5. "RE: UP C60AC file fix fix?" LAST EDITED ON Feb-07-02 AT 04:36 PM (EST)Hmmm!To be frank, I used "MSTS Bounding Box Editor" by Robert K. Guy which is available from Traim-Sim file library. I changed the "Z" value in both the "Size" and "Inertia Tensor" boxes in BBoxEdit to 21.85, and then saved the changes.I noticed that the ".eng" file InertiaTensor value had changed to 21.85. And on running MSTS, the coupler spacing problem was solved!I assumed that by editing the last figure of the InertiaTensor that this would also correct the problem of big spacing between couplers! But apparently not. Why? Because you have to edit the last value of "Size" parameter of the .eng file as well!Sorry, I missed that first time!So, to change the coupler spacing, you have to edit BOTH last values of Size and InertiaTensor parameters of the .eng file.Cheers.
