Feb-05-02, 01:21 AM (EST) "Big Steam" I am finding that there is a shortage of big steam loco's around. I would like to see the likes of the CP Royal Hudson, the Daylight, Big Boys and the CN Mountain type 6060 or any other big steam. Is there anyone out there that is think about or working on these amazing loco'sJeff Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-05-02, 03:01 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Big Steam" I definetely agree with you. In fact, I e-mailed train artisan about making a GS4 daylight for their new E7 daylight trainset. As for the big-boys (also challengers?), if we can have a DD40, why not an enormous steamer? Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-05-02, 04:59 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Big Steam" According to the last statement by its "Maker" *LOL*, it could take as long as until early or mid-March...his name is Meeko Lewerk, and he goes by the nickname "mikkox" on these boards. He did a very nice Shay D-class steamer already which is available in the file library.D.M.

Feb-05-02, 07:31 PM (EST) 5. "RE: Big Steam" Thanks for the info, if he does half the job he did on the shay, (i've had that for a couple of weeks, and got the repaint as soon as it came out), then it will be a wonderful addition to everyone's registry. Can't wait! Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

>be done? I've been busy for the past few months, but I should be able to resume work on the cab forward within few weeks... so, I guess mid-march is a pretty realistic date.It will have custom sounds and a custom cab too, so that's why it's gonna take some time.Oh yeah, it will have much more detail than the Shay, I'm aiming at about 10,000 polys. I think the Shay was at around 3,000. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-06-02, 02:28 PM (EST) 7. "RE: Big Steam" While the Royal Hudson 2860 would be nice, I think that 2816 would be better, as we have the REAL one running now (just got my
"2816 Support Crew" lapel pin in the office mail - yay!)
Also, I've done 2 reskins of TA's Mountain in CP colours, and John Fowlis has his CP Selkirk, all of which available here. The Selkirk's were CP's biggest steam, and no slouches either..cheers
Harold

Feb-07-02, 10:34 PM (EST) 8. "RE: Big Steam" I have the mountain series, and also the selkirk, you're right, it's pretty big. However even that can't pull a sizeable freight train up maria's pass. The only thing in my roster that comes even close to that is the Cotton Belt #819 4-8-4 Northern. (By the way, I'm suprised nobody's done any re-skins of that!) I think some re-skins of the northern would be worthwhile. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
