Feb-04-02, 04:10 PM (EST) "To Clem Tiller (TGV master)" LAST EDITED ON Feb-04-02 AT 04:12 PM (EST)Clem,
No pushing you but when's the TGV pack 2 coming? I especially want the TGV PSE sets (they look the best, particularly in the new silver/blue scheme) as I'm thinking of doing the northern 115km of LN1 (Lieusaint - St Florentin) because I've travelled it twice and it's the best rollercoaster north of Dijon (plus it's in the RGE!). The route will need to have the obligitary block section marker based signals (if I can get them to work - with proper cab displays) rated for 270km/h. I have to say that your site is an extremely useful resource for anybody doing TGVs (and will be mentioned in credits if/when its finished - don't hold your breath). It may also feature a concept which I hope to pioneer properly - low object density terrain texture scenery (ok, I made it up! )- where i will use terrain textures to give an impression of scenery, rather than modelling it with 3d objects (on the basis that, when 'flying' at 270km/h you can't really take in the scenery as well as you can at 27km/h!). Good luck with the TGVs (sorry, I didn't buy the first one, saving my money for PSE units!)Matt Vince

Feb-04-02, 08:07 PM (EST) 1. "RE: To Clem Tiller (TGV master)" Hi Matt,Thanks for your interest. I don't quite have a release date for the second Pack of TGVs yet. Right now I'm working, as time allows, on cabs & sounds for Pack 1. I'm definitely planning to get TGV Pack 2 out before May because that's when my first child (currently on the way) will be born, and I have a feeling my priorities might change around that time!In the meantime I'd be curious if you uncover anything interesting for modelling the TVM cab signal systems... because that could tie into my TGV cab development. Getting the cab signal aspects to work properly would be awesome.Glad you like the silver & blue, I rather miss the old orange!--

Feb-06-02, 12:03 PM (EST) 4. "RE: To Clem Tiller (TGV master)" Currently TVM 300 is on a slight hold (It was giving me headaches just trying to get TS RE to accept it, which it stubbornly refuses to do). I know 8 aspects are possible, and a WIP version of the cab signals is (sort of) working (on the NEC). If someone could explain which frame of the Acela's cab signals refer to which aspect, I'm sure I could fix it. I wouldn't hope on getting TVM430 (requiring 9 aspects) without MS releasing an SDK (and fiddling with TS core programming is not something I plan to do). At the moment I'm stumped for something to use as a block marker, so a simple rendition of that would be very useful (just a square and 2d post will do (like I said before, you don't see much at 270km/h). If I can get TVM to work on a test track, I may experiment with it on the POLT line before working on LN1 (I have a complete track plan from Bifur de Combs to Bifur de Marseille/Nimes, which shows every Xover and siding on LN1/4/5 - aint French train mags great)

Feb-06-02, 05:09 PM (EST) 6. "RE: To Clem Tiller (TGV master)" Hi all,Beadyboy: screenshots when I have them.Delamaize: I will commit to a date when I know I can make it. I would hate to be in the situation where I mention a specific date and then rush out an incomplete product. Put it another way, quality comes before deadlines Matt: Thanks for the info. Maybe we could develop some sort of standard that is a hybrid of TVM 300 and 430 that works within the constraints of MSTS. I'm thinking some sort of simplification that works with 8 aspects. I too have seen the cab signal aspect frames for the Acela but I don't know exactly which aspect is which, I'll let you know if I figure it out.Euston: FYI there's a review of my TGV pack over on www.uktrainsim.com but I'd certainly welcome another independent review!--

Feb-07-02, 10:43 AM (EST) 8. "RE: To Clem Tiller (TGV master)" MSTS could potentially support 430 if I reduce the number of indicated blocks ahead to 4 (from the current 5), thus freeing up a slot in the cab signal display for 300km/h indications. What I'm trying to use is a series of numbers which display the 5 blocks ahead (eg 270 270 270 270 270) in each aspect. Because it's still in its infancy, I wouldnt expect a proper accurate version in production for quite a while. When its been figured out, I'll probably be able to make a version for the TGV Atlantique set (they mostly have TVM300). However, I may still need someone to make a proper signal to support 8 aspects. I'll put a request in the Route forum.BTW: Good luck with the little one in May!Matt
