Jan-30-02, 12:59 PM (EST) "TSM software and 512X512 texture files" I recently purchased TSM from Abacus Software. I've run into a problem. If I use a 512X512 texture file to texture a surface of my model, the surface dissapears. If I use a 256X256 texture file it works OK.What am I overlooking?TIA,

Jan-31-02, 02:32 AM (EST) 1. "RE: TSM software and 512X512 texture files" I do not know TSM and so I am not sure whether TSM uses the
standard makeace program for the texture conversion or not.
If, during compilation of your model, it calls makeace for
the texture conversion, I might hae an idea why your texture
doesn't work properly. For a long time, I didn't make any progress with my modeling
because makeace would't let me convert the necessary textures.
Every time I ran makeace, it worked for a moment and then
crashed, either with an "unexpected error" or with the program
fault dialog box.I had no idea what was wrong with my textures, and I had tried
both BMP and TGA textures. And the solution of the problem was quite simple:Somehow (at least my versions of) makeace (1.0 and 1.01)
do not seem to like 512x512 textures. I copied the texture
to a new file, resizing it to 511x511. And that worked!
No more makeace problems! My suggestion is that you give your texture another try
in 511x511happy modelling

"RE: TSM software and 512X512 texture files" Peter, I probably wasn't clear enough about my problem. My issue is strictly within TSM. when I use a 512x512 texture file the surface dissapears on the 3D rendered view within TSM (top left window) I haven't even gotten into exporting the model to MSTS, or am I missing the point?TIA,

>in 511x511 That's plain wierd!! 511 X 511 isn't a multiple of 16 X 16, So theoretically it shouldn't work at all!I'm guessing here... But whatever paint program you're using must be adding an extra line... either that or reporting sizes incorrectly in the headers of files... All very strange.Best Regards,
