Jan-28-02, 02:50 AM (EST) "Sad News" Well as some may know I was working on the ALCo C420 but today, the locomotive was lost in a firey crash (of the computer that is). Now that it is on its way to the scrap heap, my next locomotive is going to be the ALCo C415 Center cab. Any help with gathering information, especially 3 view drawings would be a great help.

Jan-28-02, 10:22 PM (EST) 5. "RE: Sad News" She is gone, I don't know what happened. It seems that it just shut down on me one time, and when I went to restart and load Windows, a blue screen popped up telling me to reinstall windows, and I could do anything other than sticking in the Recovery CD. I guess I will have to back things up onto a CD! It wasn't going very well anyway, the model looked fine to me, but I had a lot of dummy nodes, and no idea how to get rid of them.

Jan-29-02, 01:11 PM (EST) 6. "RE: Sad News" I know how it hurts when your PC just quits on you. Three years or so ago our computer ate three hard disks in a row. They were all made by Seagate, so I figured there must have been something wrong with Seagate HDs in general at that time. It always happened the same way...when I would turn the PC on and the boot-up would begin, the HD would start making "clicking" sounds (somewhat like a clock), and after one or two minutes an error message would appear. The first time it happened we sent the HD in for repair or replacement. Turned out it could not be repaired, so we got a new one. It was about a month later that exactly the same failure would occur...I switched the PC on, and click-click-click it went ...After that we bought a new hard disk, but again it was a Seagate device, and roughly six weeks later it passed away for good as well. Sure enough we did not buy any Seagate products ever since. My current computer has one hard disk from Samsung and one from IBM, and they're both working like a charm.Well, if you're saying you were not happy with your ALCO project anyway, perhaps this might prove to have been the way out. Take a few breaths, sit down on a quiet evening with a nice cup of tea and maybe play some TS, and then think about what you might do in place of the lost ALCO. There are always new projects.D.M."Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges" Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
