Jan-28-02, 01:39 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Black/White smoke" Hi,Black5, yes white smoke, more steam coming from a diesel.
Several posibilities:
- The Diesel has a steam heater for passenger traffic. You will see steam (white) coming out on several places.
- The Diesels are cold when starting. The first big clouds are white. I have seen this quite often, when I was on duty as Traindispatcher in Zutphen and they were starting up cold Diesels of the type 2200. First coming out big white clouds, becoming blue/gray. Ugghh, uuughh. Dick van den Hoven

Jan-28-02, 01:45 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Black/White smoke" Actually I was digging through the MSTS folder the other day and noticed that the color of Diesel smoke is contorlled by and ACE file, so it would be possible to change it, however the problem is you would then have all Diesels giving off the same color smoke. James.

Any idea which ACE file??? I'll take a look at that because I think it could also introduce a few other unusual efffects..... Might be worth a bit of playing with!BTW I've been running that Class 43 for a few days now! Brilliant bit of work... Looks right, now also sounds right!! very nice. I know they chuck an awful lot of white smoke when you first start them up I've seen it.Best Regards,
Julian (Fozzy The Bear)

Jan-28-02, 07:08 PM (EST) 6. "RE: Black/White smoke" Hi Julian.
Glad you like the HST, it's a bloody hard shape to get right.
For the smoke if you look in;
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\GLOBAL\TEXTURES
You should find two ace files, dieselsmoke.ace and smokeman.ace.
You should be able to change those around and come up with some interesting colors.
James.
