Jan-27-02, 12:28 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Generations meet..." Holy Smokes , Jens Chris your really really good at modelling these beasts. Your P-42s are awesome. I have been waitng for the P42s so that people can make the re-paints not normally possible.
I can see no flaw except for one thing i am not sure about. On your P-42 phase 5 scheme the bogies are blue, Is that how they are ? I am not sure.Anyways great work!

Can you make one of these up with thew correct loco name, .eng file name, etc so that it will automatically overwrite that HIDEOUS MONSTROCITY that came with the game? Finally, a Genesis unit worthy of samespades cab! Hip hip, HOORAY! Don Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-27-02, 01:27 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Generations meet..." Actually 705 is a P32acDM Genesis II in real life... Go look it up on the various Amtrak Photo Sites.....
Pretty Good looking Locos! I assume you rebuilt them completely using TSM? As we have looked into reskining the 705 into various color schemes ( other than the renumbering into #50 that Buzz did ) and concluded that the dimensions were wrong and Kuju's texture mapping was horrible to the point of hopelessness! You saved Buzz and Tim a couple of projects there in rebuilding the Genesis...------Chuck Schneider---------

Amtrak buyed new P-42, they are factory-painted with grey underframes...
The older ones, repainted into Phase V from Phase III or IV,
have a blue underframe, sometimes also grey...
I'll search for some pics...I am 15 years old...

Are you saying I'm not at all right about #705 the default MSTS Genesis!
Here is a picture of the REAL Locomotive (note the 3rd rail shoes on the trucks); and the Builders Plate....

>I'll search for some pics... The only way you will get a picture of a phase V unit with a blue underframe is if you take it into Photoshop or a similar program and make it blue yourself. ALL of the units I have seen, both repaints and factory-painted, have gray underframes. I have personally seen the 36, which is your unit, and its underframe is gray.I will scan and post some photos of the repaints if you still don't believe me. Jan-28-02, 03:19 PM (EST) 18. "RE: Generations meet..." I'm so sorry...I thought that the colour was blue, on my pic it was very dark, and I thought it would look quite pretty with blue underframes.Am I right that some units have a blue... don't know how to say this... lower front and plow ??
And of course grey bogies, I remembered, I've seen one loco with a blue "Snow Plow".I'll repaint it soon...Sorry again...Jens-Chris

IMHO the prettiest scheme ever painted on a Genesii! (Sorry it just nudges out the Via scheme which is better than most of the Amtrak schemes even though Phase V is pretty decent)

Jan-28-02, 06:53 PM (EST) 21. "RE: Amtrak Engines" Just so you know your horns are wrong on all of the units shown, and the P42s in PH III and PH IV have dark grey on the roof, and both are different. You might want to check the photos on them.

Jan-29-02, 08:41 PM (EST) 27. "RE: Generations meet..." Mr. Brian E. Bundridge,
Perhaps if you had read my post without such a negative mindset, you would have seen that I didn't bash his locomotive at all. I merely pointed out the fact that is horns are completely unprototypical (and if u wanna call me a nitpicker, fine, but many will agree a horn is one of the most distinguishing attributes to a locomotive). Also, his paint was wrong, and that isn't nit picking in my mind as I think most people would agree that color is pretty important too! If I wanted to nit pick, I could crab about the Lego Man engineer, the "bubbled" ladders, and roof fans that are way too tall among other things. No one is perfect and I know I don't know how to draw a locomotive for MSTS that well! I chose not to nit pick and/or bash someone for no apparent reason. You however deserve it! Must be you are one of the HO modelers who cannot tell the difference between a standard Bachmann and a Kato. Next time you decide to criticise my eye for detail, take a look at what was actually said.
Matt

LAST EDITED ON Jan-29-02 AT 09:21 PM (EST)Matt your post did sound negative so let's drop the HO modeler mudslinging. You must understand Jens is a 15 year old from Germany. He has never seen an Amtrak train in the flesh in his life.He has accomplished what MANY here have been wanting,a new Genesis. If the color bothers you enough to comment about it,download TGATool and use MSPaint and reskin it,that's what I do.Oh and Jens, another masterpiece !!!!!!Freddie A. Jan-30-02, 09:18 AM (EST) 32. "RE: Generations meet..." Jens!!!!!!! You Da MAN!I dont care where a guy is from, online there are enough resources to do the models. If ya dont like what he does, dont touch it. Simple as that.Paint it what ya like! I think a pink frame stripe would be nicer on the Phase 5.....maybe just alter the whole blue areas on it to pink. Or put UP yellow red and grey with a SP Sunset Logo on the nose! New Haven Colors with a CN Maple Leaf?Give it up guys. Be grateful its been done.Jens, Tony, could one of you guys email me.
