Jan-22-02, 01:21 PM (EST) "Dim cab lights" Interior lights are too bright for night operations, at least for default locos. Can anyone tell me if it's possible to dim interior cab lights , and how to go about it. Thx Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: Dim cab lights" Lighted interiors are accomplished thru the material mapping in the shape file (this tells the sim not to apply shading to certain areas of the textures regardless of the lighting conditions, giving the appearance of lighted interiors). If you want to "dim" the interiors of the cabs on the default locomotives, you will need to edit the texture files associated with those locomotives and darken the areas of the textures that are mapped to the cab interiors.Cameron Lashley Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-23-02, 04:31 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Dim cab lights" LAST EDITED ON Jan-23-02 AT 04:32 PM (EST)I could be wrong, but I think the Cabviews (as opposed to the F5 "Passenger view") are independent from the shape file(s). The cab bitmap is not applied to the locomotive model.Ron

Jan-23-02, 04:45 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Dim cab lights" I don't think he actually wants to dim the cab lights in the external view Guys!!I think what he's after is a way to dim the lighting inside the cab in the driver (1) view at night time. The answer to that would be that it could be done.... BUT you would have to edit each of the individual ace files (in the cabview directory) that make up the driver view bitmaps, and produce dimly lit versions. The problem there is that you would then be stuck with that same brightness level during daytime driving as well. There is one way to solve that one. That would be to have two separate sets of ace file and swap them in the cabview directory when you want to do night driving or day driving. Sorry that's a bit of a messy soulution. But unless someone builds a utillity for doing it it's the only way. You could of course write a DOS .bat file to do the swapping of the graphics ace files the same way that the train artisan ESE has alternative driving cabs. If you do then please post your fix in the file library because there are a few people that would like to use it.Hope that helpsBest Regards,
