Jan-18-02, 03:48 PM (EST) "Up-date on the “articulated 5 unit double stack well car set”" Here is the requested update on my progress on the “articulated 5 unit double stack well car set”I have the 3D modeling completed and I am now working on mapping the skin onto the cars. The skin for all 5 cars is a single 1024 X 1024 bmp file. There will be three versions of each car so expect to see 15 .S files with the final release. The “load” will all be mapped from a single 1024 X 1024 Bmp file. I can fit 3 different 40’ containers, 2 different 48’ containers 2 different 20’ containers onto the large format file.The cars pictured have the basic skins on them, I will be going back to shade and shadow, and will be adding weathering affects after that. Despite the large format ACE file, the file size is not very large (about 280K) so far. I expect the “load” ace file will be larger (probably 2-3 times larger).I expect to be able to have my testers start testing the “unloaded” version of the cars in about a week. Although they had a limited lifespan (since railroads found they could connect the containers using IBC's like they do on ships), they will look good to use for everyone but the perfectionists out there. Thanks for the offers to beta test, but I only have a very slow dial up modem, so I have been using testers that I can deliver to by disk. The few that I send by e-mail are generally to people that are helping in some aspect of development. I am beginning to wish that I had my own web site, but I really can’t justify the expense. I already spend way too much time on this stuff.It’s been said that people don’t see this type of car much, but I think that must be a regional thing. I live in the Pacific Northwest and I see these cars all the time. We have a lot of inter-modal traffic here with the SEA to Land transfer of cargo.

I just seen some of these still in Sea-Land colors (albiet different road name)less than a month ago, and I know they are still roaming the rails. I must say, those are FANTASTIC!! I thought I was looking at the real thing!! I can't wait for these!!! Loaded or unloaded.Kelley
