Jan-10-02, 12:12 PM (EST) 1. "RE: TRAIN-SIM MODELER- 50$ ???" Personally, I like TSM very well. I tried using 3D Studio Max as well as 3D Canvas and TSM is by far easier to use, especially if you are only interested in making objects for Train Sim. Of course 3DS is far more powerfull, but also comes with a much more powerfull price tag (about $3000 I think). Many people have had good luck using 3D Canvas, which is significantly cheaper than 3DS (about $69.95 I think). Here is a GE C30-7 that I am building now using TSM:

Jan-10-02, 01:09 PM (EST) 3. "RE: TRAIN-SIM MODELER- 50$ ???" That picture is probably one of the best answers to questions about TSM's capabilities that we're likely to see. Nice work!Do I see any late-model U-boats in the future? <g> Or will the skinners end up using these? (And I think that Erie Lackwanna will look *awfully* nice on that C-30!)Thanks for the testimonial.Henry Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

>Henry Hey Henry,
I have drawings (thanks to Model Railroader mag) of an AC4400, an AC6000 and an AMD103. If time permits, I would love to do all three!John D. Peterson

Jan-12-02, 10:04 AM (EST) 14. "RE: TRAIN-SIM MODELER- 50$ ???" Hey John!I would love to see the AC6000 created!(expecially in CSX scheme).I happened to check out Chip Buchanan's(Dekosoft)GP35 paint templates...and was amazed at the layout on the tga's of all the "Parts"&Pieces. How they were organized and such was so simple and every part was labeled as to what was what. The tga's being "Undecorated" is a "Big" help!I would hope that all designers of Loco's would take this approach to "New" models(just a sudjestion).Oh can't forget Marc at 3dtrains which uses almost the same approach to creating tga & bmp's.As soon as I can afford TSM on cd,I'll be joining the ranks.John keep us posted on the U-boat...OK? Jan-14-02, 11:12 AM (EST) 17. "RE: TRAIN-SIM MODELER- 50$ ???" That's great news since I (and a lot of other folks) would like to see all three! And as much as I want the ACs, the AMD103 might be even more needed since it can replace the poor unfortunate mess that came with MSTS. <g>Henry Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-14-02, 11:15 AM (EST) 18. "RE: TRAIN-SIM MODELER- 50$ ???" Yep, that's the one!Actually, I would mind seeing both the EL & D&H version. I also wouldn't mind seeing that SDP45 that's coupled to 3315. Henry Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-11-02, 11:02 AM (EST) 9. "RE: TRAIN-SIM MODELER- 50$ ???" Thanks for all the kind words, guys! Coming from some of the masters of 3D modeling, that is quite a compliment to a newbie like me.Had a bit of a setback on the C30-7 the other night, as I did something that caused MSTS to crash while loading the engine. It would give the famous "We're sorry, if you were in the middle of something, you're screwed..." message. Trying to shave polys, I accidentally deleted some I needed and when I tried to create a new poly and put them back is when the crashing started. Luckily, I had a backup I could go to and only lost a couple hours worth of work. Thanks again, guys!John D. Peterson

Jan-12-02, 00:18 AM (EST) 12. "RE: TRAIN-SIM MODELER- 50$ ???" Is TrainSIm Modeler worth 50 bucks.... NOPE
Its worth more, High end programs cost as much as 3500.00 here you get the ability to model as though you were using a highend program, I know cause I have both. So, yep, go get it its worth itMark
