View of "B" side
View of "A" sideI'm just putting the finishing touches to CNJ #1000, the first commercially operated diesel locomotive in the US. It was built by GE in 1925 and entered service at the Bronx Terminal Yard on Oct. 22nd of the same year. Retired in 1957, she has been preserved and now resides in the B & O Museum in Baltimore, MD.At some point, 1947 I believe, she was repainted "Sea-Green" and the "Lady Liberty" logo was applied, but I was unable to secure a shot of this so I did her as she appeared in the "Roaring 20s". The restored version has red window frames, but I have not been able to secure any information to confirm that this was originally the case.Engine file has been done, and is fairly accurate. Trying to figure out if it is possible to do some sort of cab, but info is sketchy from my end of the country.Model was built using TSM and Micrografx PP7. Currently at 1546 polys and uses (amazingly for me) only 1 512x512 texture.Any comments and feedback will be welcome.TrackDancer
Mailto://quill2000@hotmail.comI've also got a CNW version planned. CNW operated several modified units (incl. one at Green Bay, WI) and these were operational well until the mid/late 1950s. Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Sorry guys, but the Hoboken used a subsequent model, the 100 ton version which had a higher HP rating as well as a longer hull. They are easily distinguishable from the large louvre vents in the middle of the car body.
On the otherhand many railroads used the 60 ton version including ERIE, B & O (which purchased the second operational unit), Lehigh Valley, Chicago North Western and the Harlem Transfer Co (theirs was still operational in 1962).I believe a total of 173 of the 60 ton units were built, so there is plenty of scope for repainters. When, I finally release the model, both the TSM source file as well as the texture files will be made readily available also, in order that correct variants can easily be recreated. As with all US locomotives, these box cabs were subject to modifications to suit local operational requirements.Thank you all very much for the positive feedback. BTW, my next US project will be a 36 foot reefer/box car.Regards:TrackDancer Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
