"RE: Looking for 3 view drawings for Locomotives" How big do you want the drawings 1024 x 800 ?, what DPI and in what format, *.jpg would be best for transmission but TSM requires *.bmp for mapping, do you just want SD40-2, got SD45's, SD45T, C628, C855, BB50, CC50, GP20, GP30, GP35, SD7, RS27, GP, FL9, F45, FP7, FP45, + more to many to list really.Michael Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-08-02, 06:50 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Looking for 3 view drawings for Locomotives" I am looking for any size fairly good resolution any format that would work in PSP7. To put it simple anything that could be used to model a locomotive. I did a search and found some 3d views just wondering if there is more out there? "RE: Looking for 3 view drawings for Locomotives" CPFan,What you want is on page 150 of the "Model Railroad Cyclopedia - Vol. 2 - Diesels) Its an HO scale four view drawing of the SD40. This book and it's "steam" companion are excellent references. You can get them at amazon.com.
If you can't get a hold of one, let me know and I can scan the page for you.-Verne

I think I am going to buy the book it would just what I need to help me model accurately. Thanks for everything you are a real help! wish there were more people out there like you!My email is cprfan1@hotmail.com whenever you get around to scaning the SD40. Oh I have one more question I was wondering if the book has the newer diesel locomotives like Ge AC 4400, Dash9 anything like that. What I plan to do is model some of the locomotives that CP rail runs for the CP Ignace Sub that I am working on.Thanks again!Matt Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Do they scale measurements or at least real (model) measurements that we can convert? This would be super handy to those of us building 3D models. I went through all my old Model Railroader mags and laid out issues that had drawings of anything I think I would like to model! LOL!John D. Peterson

Jan-08-02, 11:31 PM (EST) 7. "RE: Looking for 3 view drawings for Locomotives" The drawings in both the Vol.1 (steam) and Vol.2 (diesel) are in HO scale. With an inexpensive HO scale ruler, you can "tick off" all the measurements you need. The drawings can also be scanned and used in a 3D program as "backdrop images" (adjusting the image to fit the scale) thus allowing them to be "traced". This is extremely useful for getting the curves right in boilers and early diesel profiles.-Verne
