Jan-06-02, 07:42 PM (EST) "US Army Train in Europe (1956 - 1991). New BeeKay model uploaded. " Hi all,
My new train was just uploaded and will be available in the download section soon. No it´s not again the Köf switcher, actually there are two complete trains in one package. It´s the German VT08.5 Fast Train Diesel Express from the Fities and the US Army Transportation VT08.8 in it´s early livery. Drive a US "2 star" through Europe and don´t care about timetables and fixed routes.
The readme.txt contains a brief history of both trains to feed your information appetite.
I wish you a lot of fun with the trains and your imagination and phantasies on European Routes. Here are 2 photos of the US Army train:
And this is the German train:

Jan-07-02, 11:32 AM (EST) 7. "RE: US Army Train in Europe (1956 - 1991). New BeeKay model uploaded. " Hi there,
Thanks for your nice comments on the train photos, I hope you will enjoy the model as much. I uploaded it yesterday and it now depends on Nels, how he finds the time to release it to the Download area. I can imagine, he has a lot to do with all the stuff coming in. But my experience is that it never took longer than two days. Thanks for that Nels. The model is stuffed with polygons (engineer, passengers etc.) (uncompressed 3.1 MB only for the engine.s file, not counting the .wag files) and I am curious to know, how the trains behave on your favorite routes. Don't worry, I kept the complete zip file down to 1.8 MB for all trains in one pack. Please keep me informed, if there are any problems in running the train. I don't have experienced them on my system.
All the credit for the routes go to different people. The nice train station with the high roof is from the commercial add-on Protrain "Rhine valley" and the station is Cologne. It is really snowing inside the station, but this is just another Microsoft/Kuju fix to come as I believe, since it is snowing in all covered places, except tunnels. Or is it the add-on? Never thought deeply about it. Why do you think the coupler needs fixing? It is not broken, I just love to switch, even with complete train elements which normally stay together. Maybe a roller bearing of one of the wagon went hot and the section has to be replaced.
The first photo route is the freeware Schwarzwald "Black Forest", which I love not only for the nice German signaling. It can be downloaded in many German websites. The last photo was taken on the North-East Corridor route from MSTS.
Thanks again for your comments and keep me informed about any problems with the trains.
Enjoy but always keep some place on your hard disk for new trains, there is soon more to come (only 50s to 70s in Europe from my side).

Jan-09-02, 12:48 PM (EST) 9. "RE: US Army Train in Europe (1956 - 1991). New BeeKay model uploaded. " Hi Dick, Mike et al,
Thanks for the nice photos, I couldn't pubish prototype photos, since I don't have any with my own copyright. They are really elegant the Eierkopfs or eggheads, isn't it?. I am at the moment busy with another model, but whenever I've got some time, I will put pantos on the roof and do the other small changes to build a similar ET30 egghead.I checked yesterday other snow sceneries because of Mike from Norfolk&WesternTP's question. Inside houses and stations it is snowing as well in other routes. Just take the PO&N, inside roundhouses and warehouses with solid roof... snow. So it's not the add_on which is faulty, it's the general concept. I didn't check the built-in routes of the MSTS, since I didn't find a place with solid roof over track in the short time I had. But this is not my biggest problem anyhow.
If I had a wishlist for Microsoft/Kuju and their next release of the TS, the highest priority would be a working front coupler (brake release) and a feature to allow me to jump from loco-cab to loco-cab in any activity, or in Microsoft language to focus on a specific engine. Would be great to assemble a consist with e.g. a little Köf-switcher and then take the same consist to distant places (just around the next corner) with a big hauler.A nice one to you all.

I have some more at home, I can do a search if you like and I can send them to you.
I can also try to scan them at a higher resolution, but I am just learning to scan, so I don't know if I will succeed.
I use the new PrimeFilm 1800i Negative/Positive scanner.
Give me an email if you are interested. My profile email is public.
The above picture is at Goslar, October 1980 and the second at Kreiensen, October 1980.Somewhere buried in my positive boxes is a not so good picture of an ET30. I can try to find it if you like.Dick van den Hoven
