Jan-05-02, 00:07 AM (EST) "NYC E8 units" Is anyone skinning the beautiful E units in the scheme of the NewYorkCentral? Growing up in Harmon NY, I saw E7's and 8's just about everyday looking down at the diesel-electric shops from where I lived. If I had the talent I would, but... Anyone?

Jan-05-02, 09:12 AM (EST) 1. "RE: NYC E8 units" Yes, I plan on doing both a set of Lightning Stripers and Cigar band NYC E's. I also remember seeing them on the Water Level Route, upstate in Rochester. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

If you have, I'll stop and wait for yours. Otherwise, I'll continue...there's still plenty of work left to do on this beauty...Michael Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-07-02, 12:32 PM (EST) 6. "RE: NYC E8 units" Michael and Cadman_ Thanks for your efforts. Might there be a cigarban E8, or possibly an E7 in the offering? Over the years these were in service I saw so many mixes of 7's and 8's. The distinctive square and rectanglular ports on the E7's and the fact that the strips never lined up when mixed just added to my memories.

Jan-07-02, 08:48 PM (EST) 7. "RE: NYC E8 units" The E8 skins are laid out pretty well, and there is no stretching in the textures. It was pretty easy to do. I used Adobe Illustrator to create all the graphic elements first , and I was able to get the NYC font which had the logo and the correct typeface. The stripes had to be done by hand. For some good tips, see this thread:http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID8/1646.htmlVerne's tips are pretty good...Michael Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
