Dec-31-01, 10:23 PM (EST) "How Tp stop Cab & Sound From Aliasing" How do you stop locos from aliasing. I know that when you download some locos they alias when you move them to the trains/trainset folder. And I have the gp38 cabview, and when a
loco aliases it causes problems. But locos that dont alias I dont have problems. So is there any way to stop them from aliasing. I figure that if it delete the cabview and sound folders, and then move it to the trains/trainset folder and then
copy them myself that it would work. Or will it alias anyway.
Help is appreciated. Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

It is the first time I hear this. But when you want to have bunches of multiply files on your HD, it is your choice, not mine. For me aliasing is OK.To unalias, that was your question.
Simply copy the Cabview and Sound folder from the default GP38 to the folder of the engine and overwrite everything that is already in the CabView and Sound folder that came with the loco. Now you can have some problems:
1. The designer used the GP38 cvf and sms files, but have give them other names. In this case use this files, but change them.
Open them in Wordpad and look for lines like this:
"..\..\Gp38\CabView\needlewhite.ace" or ..//..//Gp38//CabView\\needlewhite.ace"
In the case remove all before the ace file name, so you get needlewhite.ace.2. The files are aliased in the .eng file
You see the simular thing as in point 1, now remove that ..\\..\\Gp38\\Sound part or what so ever, so in your eng file, you must have:
CabView (Gp38.cvf)
Sound (Gp38eng.sms)
Sound (Gp38cab.sms)Remember point 1, these files can have other names.Dick van den Hoven Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
