Dec-30-01, 00:58 AM (EST) "3D Studio Max" Hi everybodyI just got a copy of 3D Studio Max and I have a couple of questions:Is the grid in the program set to any particular scale, and is there a way to change the scale of the grid?I was also wondering if there is a way to convert the *.s files into a *.3ds file for editing?Thanks for the help Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Just check the "Generic Units".Also, in Customize/Grid&Snap Settings, set the Grid Spacing to 1.0, and Major Lines Every Nth setting to 10.
In the same box, un-check Inhibit Grid Subdivision......, and
Dynamic Update setting check Active Viewport.There is no method of reverse engineering a .s file back to .3ds If there is no one is telling Get yourself a copy of a 3d viewer called "3D Exploration". This will show if your pivots points and hierarachy settings are correct. Altho the settings may look okay in Max, when converted the settings maybe out of alignment/orientation. 3D Exploration allows you to view the .3ds file and fix any problems in MAX before converting it to .s. Trust me, it will save your sanity.It's a freeware/shareware prog, look at cnet or a similar site.Don't let the computer WIN! Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
