Dec-29-01, 02:12 AM (EST) "Wheels in the sky" Modeled a steam car that from outward appearances looks kinda like a diesel car. When the reverser is shifted forward or backward the front wheels (wheels11 on bogie 1) take off in a large arc around the front end of the loco. The loco has two bogies with two axels each. Only the front axel on the front bogies exhibits this bizarre behavior. I used the "General" engine file to test out this loco. Is there somplace in the .eng file that describes this behavior (causes it to happen? Tom Goodrick did a tutorial on the flightsim air editor. Is anyone doing something similar in train sim? For instance, a tutorial on reading and writing .wag and .eng files? This is my first go at a design, I've had TSM less than a week and am pretty pleased with the results--all but the wheel.Dave Dandy

Dec-29-01, 08:04 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Wheels in the sky" Dave,Again, judging from your rotary post that you're using TSM, your answer isn't in the .eng file - it's in the .dst file of the car. Load the file back into TSM, "make current" wheels 11, then click on Part ( in Part Mode). Scroll down to "Center Axis",""To Object", and watch the Side View while you click. You should see the XY axis center itself to wheels 11, which should be centered to Bogie 1. If it doesn't, click Edit, Properties, and make sure the parent for wheels 11 IS bogie 1. Looks wild when the wheels orbit the bogie instead of rotating in it ( cracks me up when they go underground and through the car body without leaving a scratch.Jake.
