Dec-19-01, 06:10 PM (EST) 2. "RE: How to package and post cars" Oops I hit the wrong key. I have two cars finished ( an 8000gal tankcar and a 55ton hopper) and hopefuly soon a locomotive (Pensy H-8 consolidation) however these being my first works I do not know how to properly package these items for upload. I want to make certain that when the file is unzipped it is already in its own folder in Trains/Trainset instead of a bunch of loose files that have to be placed into a folder. Also when writing the readme file, I want to make certain that people are able to reskin and post their renditions without having to contact me, but I also want to make certain that whoever reskins it has to give me credit for the origional model. Is that best done by making it freeware, or will public domain accomplish the same thing. On another note I am planning on making a Pennsy steam era route and am currently working on the rolling stock to run on it. Besides the H-8 I have plans for a B-6 switcher, I-1 decapod, E-6 atlantic, K-4 pacific, L-1 mikado, and an M-1 mountain. These will not be repaints of other locos but true Pennsy models with the belpaire firebox. Is anyone else interested in steam era Pennsy. The voice of insanity in a seemingly normal world. <Slaps self silly>
Umm... just a bit. I have plans to create a set of 4 RS-1s as soon as I crash-course 3D Studio. I intend to try for the same level of detail that Mark Toland achieved in his S-4. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-19-01, 08:11 PM (EST) 5. "RE: How to package and post cars" On my H-8 I'm trying for a good level of detail but I'm also trying to keep the poly count low. Currently I am at about 2700 polys, I still have to add a bell, coupler, whistle, marker lamps, main rods, and valve gear. For certain I will be adding the rods, valve gear and coupler, some of the other details will depend on poly count. BTW or you a Motorhead, (or perhaps an Overkill fan, who took their name from a Motorhead song) fan or did you get the name from somewhere else. As to what another person said in this thread I went to the page in question and I'm still not quite certain about what to do.

Dec-19-01, 08:26 PM (EST) 6. "RE: How to package and post cars" Actually, I chose Overkill a while ago as a callsign (let's just say I had a 386 at the time). I found a lot of Overkills out there, so I tacked on my BSA troop number. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

I used this page to figure out stuff when I uploaded my first repaints.http://www.flightsim.com/dev-tips.htm-Andrew Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
