Dec-11-01, 03:49 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Joint Project of ChrisTrains, Trainartisan and NALW" > Well, I just started to love the electrics!! NICE CREATION!!! I've always been enamoured of electrics, even if they don't have much of a voice. I guess that'll get the New Haven folks to stand up and take notice.I keep looking at the Swedish version of Marias Pass and imagining what it would look like with Bi-Polars, boxcabs, and Little Joes handling the trains. Fortunately, sanity usually returns pretty quick. Henry Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-12-01, 09:53 AM (EST) 10. "RE: Joint Project of ChrisTrains, Trainartisan and NALW" Thanks for the sound byte!Well, I didn't say that they had no voice, and I certainly didn't say they were *always* quiet. Still, when you think of the equivalent in steam or a brace of diesels running through that same acceleration.... Besides, I once saw a GG1 on a passenger run glide by with the throttle closed. The silence was almost total. If I didn't already know not to be careless near the tracks, that would have cured me for sure.Henry Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nice looking train there! I'm a steam engine guy myself, and never cared much for electrics ( don't make enough noises or smells!) but this one really looks cool. Keep up the good work you guys!Grizzly Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-12-01, 09:19 PM (EST) 12. "RE: Joint Project of ChrisTrains, Trainartisan and NALW" The electric locomotives of the New Haven railroad, and the New York Central for that matter, are an undiscovered treat for MSTS railroaders. The older boxcabs had large driving wheels like steam engines do, and puffed lots of smoke from their steam heating boilers especially around the winter holidays. They had large varandas on both ends, actually extensions of their C carriages, with railings galore and a multitude of boxes, brakewheels, steps and other items of interest on the deck. The new Haven's EP-5 of Lionel fame was the first to be painted in the colorful orange/red, black and white NH livery which later appeared on several of the older boxcabs as well. We're waiting for some enthusiastic 3D artist out there to discover these wonderful locomotives and build them for us, to live again in MSTS. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-13-01, 04:11 PM (EST) 13. "RE: Joint Project of ChrisTrains, Trainartisan and NALW" Yes - chuck was trying to get me to do it. I'd resisted because the NS1200 wasn't really the same loco. In the end, he talked me into it and I spent an evening modifying the geometry too. So the EP5 technically isn't a repainted NS1200 - it's "all new" ![]()

Dec-13-01, 04:51 PM (EST) 14. "RE: Joint Project of ChrisTrains, Trainartisan and NALW" Thats really a funny story how our friend Chuck got Chris to do it. US railfans realy want that locomotive for train simulator, I think Chris can make the wanted AEM-7. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-15-01, 11:20 PM (EST) 15. "RE: Joint Project of ChrisTrains, Trainartisan and NALW" You are correct about them not being the same loco.... The NS1200 was a Baldwin-Westinghouse "kit" that was shipped to Holland and then assembled there... The EP5 was a GE "Erie Built" "Motor" However they were contemporaneous and had a passing resemblance to each other.... I always wanted an EP5 for MSTS, being a NH nut second only to Nels, and Chris' NS1200 looked like the closest visual model that could be kit bashed... (Actually it was the "only dual cab" "covered wagon style" motor - LOL) however dimensions and "stuff" were close enough that when Chris finally got a break from duplicating the entire rolling stock of the NS (European Subsidiary) he was gracious enough to take a crack at it for me... IMHO he did a fantastic job..

Dec-16-01, 05:06 AM (EST) 17. "RE: Joint Project of ChrisTrains, Trainartisan and NALW" Did Chuck say this was a dual cab? I wonder if the door is open to sneak through and look?
If Chuck has no problems trialling it then this might get thrown in as an alternate left view (or right view I suppose).-------SamSpade--------

Jan-02-02, 08:05 PM (EST) 18. "RE: Joint Project of ChrisTrains, Trainartisan and NALW" A GREAT addition to the fleet of locos! The dual cabs, new consoles, and horn are wonderful additions. I was checking out the scenery with the heads out view and when I went to the rear look, what? no mechanics inside the loco?? I saw scenery and a floor structure through the loco body. No one has mentioned this anomoly so I thought I would let you know. The loco and consist are just spectacular and will be run frequently. Thank you for your art and sharing with the community!B&0 John Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-03-02, 02:47 AM (EST) 19. "RE: Joint Project of ChrisTrains, Trainartisan and NALW" Unfortunately I found that too late to fix before the release... When Chris gets back from a well earned vacation we'll address it.... Thanks for reminding me.------Chuck Schneider---------

Jan-03-02, 12:21 PM (EST) 20. "RE: Joint Project of ChrisTrains, Trainartisan and NALW" I found that, too. I just leaned a bit further out the window to compensate. Seriously, I wish I could post the quick change I made to the "head out" setting, but MSTS is at home. (And I'm not! )Henry Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
