>as SNCB 1800, OOOhhh!! Yeah Michael, I vote for the CC40100 to come next on the list! Nice loco! But yes I know what you mean I think that Americans forget that we invented railways over here in Europe, and that there are a vast number of different and attractive prototypes to model from this side of the pond.Best Regards,

Dec-07-01, 03:42 PM (EST) 9. "RE: Les locomotives des monocabine" Fozzy,Shhhsss you cant tell em that ! , seriously though there are some stunning European paint schemes around but l belive you have to be from around here to sort have a kinship with them.I do like the SNCF / SNCB Quads l saw one once in Belgium and had the joy of traveling behind one, l must confess the noise at speed was something else, there was no blower roar but once those huge huge dual motor bogies get up to speed they fair do howl .There are so many "nexts" its rediculous but l shall prevail !, technical question ?, is it possible to alais cab views or sounds like you can with FS planes, seems awfully wasteful to keep doubling up sound and cab folders for every new loco.Best regardsMichael Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

>awfully wasteful to keep doubling
>up sound and cab folders
>for every new loco. Yeah! it's not difficult to alaise cab and sound files Michael. You just have to set the references in the eng and sms files to use the right bits. In fact you can use any sound or cab that is already installed by providing the file location references. The only difficulty arrises when people havn't used the default install directories. Or don't have the locomotive that you alaise from. For some examples just look in the file library, there are a lot of loco's that use alaised cabs and sound.Best Regards,

Dec-07-01, 06:00 PM (EST) 16. "RE: Les locomotives des monocabine" Fozzy surely the difficulty should not arise if you are alaising locally ?, in FS you just point to the required plane with in the game sub structure, from what your saying it seems you have to alaise the complete path, thanks for the tip l'll go look and see whats up, that'll save me tons of MB on my PC as l test all these.RegardsMichael Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

>arise if you are alaising
>locally ?YUP!! Sorry my fault for that misunderstanding. Yes what I mean is if someone doesn't install a locomotive you are alising from in it's default directory then your alaise would run into problems! Should have made myself a bit clearer there!Best Regards,

Dec-07-01, 03:01 PM (EST) 7. "RE: Les locomotives des monocabine" Oooooh yes, you're voicing a big dream of mine...the "Dreiländereck" near Aachen would make an unbeatable scenery...German, Dutch and Belgian trains all mingling around...or how about the region in southwestern Baden-Württemberg in the corner between France and Switzerland...Freiburg, Mulhouse, Basle, Zurich...? Mountains, rivers, you name it...Wow, the NSB NOHAB is great! Have you come around to remaking the DSB ones as well?

Dec-08-01, 03:41 AM (EST) 25. "RE: Best DB loco...?" Hmmm, the best DB electric loco in my opinion is the E 18 or E 19 (later 118/119) 1'Do1'...one of the most handsome designs I have ever seen ...

Dec-08-01, 04:10 AM (EST) 27. "RE: Best DB loco...?" OOOOH, E18's LOL, close but not quite the best, actually both designs were revolutionary when they were introduced so could both stand side by side in the history of electric traction !.Michael Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-07-01, 06:13 PM (EST) 18. "RE: Les locomotives des monocabine" IORE, the world's AFAIK strongest locomotive. Used for iron ore trains waaaay up north in Sweden (Luleå-Kiruna-Narvik). From where I live in southern Sweden it's closer to the French Riviera than to Kiruna.....Message Areas - "Les locomotives des monocabine" – image 14 There's an MSTS model of the IORE under way, made by Erik Falkenström, the same person who made the Swedish X2000 high speed train. Dec-07-01, 06:25 PM (EST) 20. "RE: Les locomotives des monocabine" Svente,I read a technical article on those the other day, something about the type of steel used in the wheels and that the wheels were designed in CAD for optimum performance, what the loco does is scary, its not so much raw power but how it applies it to the rail which amazes me, the interface of steel on steel has jumped leaps and bounds in just the last 10 years with silentbloc wheels that steer and controled by computers to give super creep hi adhesion capabilities.MichaelPS still prefer the old rod drive triple units , especially in there new colors. Dec-08-01, 03:38 AM (EST) 24. "RE: IORE" Yeah! Finally!!!! Now tell me somebody is going to recreate the Swedish-Norwegian ore railroad as well...saw a TV report about it a few weeks ago, and it was pretty impressive. What was interesting was how the engineer who took the TV team along on his loco would second as the "deliveryman" (post-wise) for the little towns along the route, somewhere in the middle of nowhere ...

Dec-07-01, 07:31 PM (EST) 22. "RE: Les locomotives des monocabine" Mickoo:Chris has a good explanation on how to alias sound files and cab view on his Modeler's FAQ page: http://www.christrains.com/faq.htmlSpeaking of european routes, I'm in the process of gathering information to build the entire CFL network (Chemins de Fer du Luxembourg). I say "entire", but don't forget it's a small country... Anyway, wrong forum for this. I will setup a web site with current information about this, at http://olivier101.topcities.comThis is why I'd like to see a NoHAB in CFL 1600 livery... if you wish I have plenty of pictures showing the 1600's. Message Areas - "Les locomotives des monocabine" – image 16There's also the 3600's, which are basically the same as french BB 12000 that started this thread....Message Areas - "Les locomotives des monocabine" – image 17

Dec-08-01, 04:08 AM (EST) 26. "RE: Les locomotives des monocabine" Olivier,Both of those locos are planed in the near future, the Nohab will be in two batches, Scandinavian and Benelux, l might offer them as packs of three as well as individual, with the 3 pack being much cheaper than the total for all three ?, just a thought.CFL lines, yup l'll sign up for that , basically apart from Denmark my interest lies in the Dunkirk, Lille, Aaachen, Antwerpen, Oostend loop. Thanks for the tip on alaising, sadly the link seems dead, however the fact that it can be done is good enough so at least l can dig deeper later .RegardsMichael Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
