Jun-27-01, 01:58 PM (EST) "Changing Maximum Speed??" Is it possible to change the maximum speed settings (in the ENG file?) There is a setting called "maximum speed" but it doesn't seem to change the performance of the engine. For example, I want to "up" the maximum speed of the Thalys repaint as the TGV is a fatser train than the Acela. Also, any way to change the measurement units to metric?? TGVs do not operate in MPH. ThanksJohn-Paul

Jun-27-01, 03:43 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Changing Maximum Speed??" Ah, John-Paul with his TGV has issues ! The speed in the Eng File is only part of the problem Speed shows up in several places, The Eng for one, but more importantly look at the consist if the con doesn't allow you to go fast you won't. Also I can't remember if there's a speed in the WAG file but you might want to check it..Also Check the KW's of the acela the TGV might have a slighty more souped up engine so it can do those amazing this you were talking about a couple of weeks ago. Speed to kmh, well yes you can but you have to edit the Cab file and Replace the Dials with correct mtric equivilants. (Good Luck) I gave up on that one since I was going to re-do the entire cab anyhow and couldn't.... The easiest is to leave the speedometer alone and just change the Digital Readout to K/MH
i think that's the text you have to replace mph with...Good Luck ! Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jun-27-01, 09:01 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Changing Maximum Speed??" if you just change the velocity, the needle will rise according to the variables of
MaxPower, max force etc etc..Incidentally just to see how well the game engine could handle high speeds i souped up a genesis and drove it from whitefish
to selby. I wanted to see the effect that speed had on draw rate. I think the maximum speed i reached was 4450 mph, before launching through the buffers at selby and into orbit.
Needless to say the Game engine kept with the pace and redrew at a very good rate. I know that fill and draw rate are 90% dependent on your graphics + CPU hardware, however good coding can either make or break a game especially when used on less powerful hardware....Still doesnt explain why the rest of the program is so shabbily written in places. Here were the specs of the genesis mach 7 MaxPower ( 6000000kW )
comment( est estimated by comparision with dash9 )
MaxForce ( 90000kN )
MaxContinuousForce ( 95000kN )
MaxVelocity ( 26550mph )
MaxCurrent ( 900000A )
WheelRadius ( 3.5m not too good to travel at that speed...you can shatter peoples wiondows with the sonic boom...lol
