Dec-04-01, 04:22 AM (EST) "Wish there were People? There are NOW!!!!!" Since MicroShaft didn't include people I thought I would make some after a working with TSM I decided to take on the task of making a person! I started by making a Brakeman dressed in a
high vis vest like the one my Dad wears when he goes to work. Now that it is manditory for CP employees to wear them. I am going to tweek him up a bit give him a radio or a work lamp for night time! I am hoping to put out a set of people such as Passangers,railroaders, train gang, etc. I have been testing virtual cab views with an engineer at the helm and a sleepy conductor passed out in the far corner of the cab. All show some more screen shots later! Any way I hope you enjoy itemail your comments or suggestions

The engineer was driving his train along and he called the dispatcher on the radio and said he was having broke hose trouble or some other minor fault in the train that was annyoning. As he was on a branch line next to the main frieght line, the dispatcher gave him the go ahead to stop and give the train a quick inspection, to fix the hose or whatever was wrong so he could get a move on. But what the engineer really need was to take a s*it, as he had constipation and he taken some laxitives at his lunch break (to get things moving again) so he stopped the train got out crossed over the track, did his business, while he was mean't to be "fixing" the air hose. He was crossing the tracks when the spy photo above was taken by a train spotter sitting in the bushes.
I hope you enjoy the story.

There are NOW!!!!!" well... msts does have people, if u consider the same old man with backpack dressed in green every mile or so in activities. sometimes they stand in the tracks, total morons lol. i like that new "constipated" person, would be cool to make all sexes, heights, clothes etc, and put a bunch of em on train station platforms. if ur blazin by the platform at 50mph u wont beable to tell they arent moving anyways. so it would be cool.

I made some adjustments to the "constipated" Brakeman. To tell the truth he had tad to many pots of coffee before going to work so that he could make it through the night to make sure his engineer wouldn't nod off into lala land and blow through a signal or go over the speed limit! He didn't want to use the washroom in the nose of the engine incase his engineer noded off and derail the train while he was on the can, what a mess that would be!! Well to make a long story short they made it to the end of the line. The Brakeman ended up makeing a beeline to the bunk house to relieve himself!
The Brakeman now comes with buddy! Oh and what does he have in his hand.... no it couldn't be! But it is it is a working worklight!! Well sort of, I don't know it you could use wag file and place a light for his worklight? Anyone know? I was to lazy to make a night texture just for a little poly so I split the poly for the the light and made it it's own part and set the material to alphabright so it will glow in the dark but here is the prob it doesn't make a beam of light like the locomotives do!

I should be able to upload a set of guys in the next week or so maybe sooner if people really want them! I have a couple of other projects that I am working on if anyone wants to know. Lately I have been working on a virtual cab view of my locomotive I have placed an engineer and a conductor in the cab. you could look around the cab and see everything it is to bad that MSTS doesn't have virtual gauges like the ones in the Combat Flight sim 2 that would be a treat if the train sim had that then it would be alot more realistic. I also am thinking of putting men on the side of cars riding them or on the side of a loco on the ladder. It would add more realism to switching activites! Ok I guess I said enough! Ermmmm YUP!! Any chance you could make em look a bit more like the average railway employee instead of like Arnie (Terminator) Swarzenega. I bit more overweight and a bit less athletic and you've got it!!The're great!! and getting better!! well done.Best Regards,

I agree make them a bit more overwieght. Also get one guy to be carrying a donut box (e.g. dunken (is that how you spell it, i can't remember now its a while since i lived in the us) donuts. Keep up the good work.

The blond guy with the shades kind of looks like James Hetfield from Metallica. They look better in the game than in this picture!!I added 1 more guy he is suppose to be a foreman he should actually suppose to have a white hard hat but all fix that later!
I added railway issue tinted safety glass, could never be to safe you know. Maybe I should make a guy carrying his work bag.
Anyway. My future plans are to make Industrial workers.
here are some ideas- a lumberjack caring a chainsaw or axe or maybe a guy ride a log down a river to a saw mill.- Miner with a pickaxe or shovel- section men-Steel mill workers -refinery workersand the list goes on.......I think it will add more realism to the scenery even if they don't move!The only troubles I am having is making skins for the guys and finding faces to make them all individual guys. I wish I had a digital camera so I could stick my face on a guy and place myself in the engineers seat I think that would be the coolest thing. hmmm this gives me an idea I need volunteers with a digital camera to take a picture of their face or someone elses face one front shot and one side shot and I could make you your very own virtual clone. I just want to see if the faces could be more realistic. oh and I hust about forgot make sure you resize the picture to something that is manageable 256x256 or 512x512.Anyone know where I could find some good pictures of industrial workers so that I could make more accurate skins for the guys
The good news about the people are that they are small aprox 200kb files and they have around 600 to 1000 polygons so it shouldn't cut the frame rate down to much when you have a plateform full of these guys but I could be wrong. I haven't done much testing.Thank you everyone for all your comments and suggestions!

It seems that after many years of the train blowing the wistle at the crossing in the middle of the night not more than 50 feet from his house he finally snaps. One day after a long day at work in the bush he decides to cut the wistle post down. Won't he be in for a surprise when the railway police come pounding on his door and carry him off to jail!!Anyway here is on of my lumberjacks holding a chainsaw.
