Dec-02-01, 01:24 AM (EST) "TSM Question" Hey everyone, I just got TSM yesterday afternoon and it is GREAT!
I worked through the tutorials and even managed to do my own freelance station, textures and all, despite the fact that I have had no 3D modeling expereince! Now to my question.I first noticed the problem when I was working on the "wagon tutorial". I followed the instructions to the letter, but when I tried to texture it, all sorts of strange things started to happen! The object in the perspective view became distorted (to say the least) Textures were not visible, parts became seperated, some parts disapeared completely! When I checked the wire frame view or turned the textures off, the Perspective view showed the whole object and looking like it should. After several tries with the tutorial, I tried my station and succeeded. I even did one model of my station with joined parts and one without to see if that was causing the problem. It wasn't. As far as I can tell, the only difference is the wagons I tried (I even did a box with wheels) had tubes, where the station was all cones and boxes. Am I doing something wrong? My system is a Celeron 366, 256MB RAM, Voodoo 3 3000 Video Card, 34GB on my hard drives.Any help would be appreciated...I'm really excited about this and don't want to be limited to boxes! Thanks Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

check to make sure that the Alpha channel is in the
proper place's. It kind of sounds like you may have
some Aplha channel bleeding over in area's.Just a thought......Patrick Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-05-01, 08:00 AM (EST) 3. "RE: TSM Question" Hi!Glad you're enjoying TSM - If I recall rightly, Abacus put two of the tutorials I wrote in to the download package. A third one (two-bogie diesel loco) will be available very shortly, I mailed it to them a while back. There are going to be about eleven tutorials in the complete series plus about another 10 mini how-to's Matthew Peddlesden

Dec-06-01, 00:36 AM (EST) 4. "RE: TSM Question" Great! Your tutorials were very helpful. I've been sticking to structures until I really get the hang of the thing. Still trying to work out the best way to lay out texturing. WHat kind of impact does using two or more seperate files have on the model(other than more disk space). I know a lot of the stuff thats available now use more than one file for textures. If I do use more than one file, will TSM convert two seperate .ace files? Dec-06-01, 02:16 PM (EST) 6. "RE: TSM Question" Tom;Are you the Tom that answered me over at the 3dTrains forum? If so, I asked you another question! Never ends huh, clear up one and that brings on another.I'll ask here in case you see this first. Concerning having an inverted object so I can detail the inside of the building. You suggested for ease I keep them seperate and I agree. Does that mean in separate files, i.e. exterior in filea and interior in fileb? Then what do I do so that the sd references both? Merge them? I hope this doesn't sound like I'm dense. I know once I do this the first time, I'll have it down.ThanksDavid Klemm
