Nov-11-01, 07:51 AM (EST) 1. "RE: Hogwart's Express from Harry Potter" It would be interesting to see. I know some people who are also fans of the film, and the loco.If someone does try to make it, before they charge off building a "Castle Class", here is something I read in a Railway Magazine, a few months back.Apparently, 'Hogwarts Castle', the train's name, was originally going to be a repainted 'Castle class' loco, but J.K Rowling happened to be a fan of God's Wonderful Railway. So, "Hall class" loco "Ogden Hall" will instead be getting a respray. At least, I think it's Ogden Hall.Interesting...

Nov-12-01, 12:47 PM (EST) 7. "RE: Hogwart's Express from Harry Potter" They are completely different. For a start, 'Kings' are too big. Another thing, 'Kings' are not as wide spread as 'Halls' Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-11-01, 12:52 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Hogwart's Express from Harry Potter" Hogwarts Castle is actually no.5972 Olton Hall, owned by the West Coast Railway Company. When the last book came out, Bulleid pacific 34027 Taw Valley was painted red and named Hogwarts Castle to pull a promotional train around the U.K.
When it came to the film, 34027 was deemed to be of "too modern" appearance, although the fact that filming was planned for Glenfinnan on the West Highland, with its gradients and tight curves, may well have had something to do with it.
As it turned out, the railway scenes for the first film where filmed on the North Yorks railway at Goathland, and Kings Cross, but the 2nd film has already used Glenfinnan, at the beginning of September (interesting to see if the fans notice the change of location). 5972 was still at Fort William early October, so maybe more scenes will be filmed.
Anything that gets young people interested in railways is good, and I wonder if Microsoft and Warner Brothers will produce an official "Harry Potter" add on. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-12-01, 12:44 PM (EST) 6. "RE: Hogwart's Express from Harry Potter" CASTLES ARE GREAT WESTERNERS YA TWIT!!Get your facts right. The 'Castles' and 'Kings' were GWR Express engines. 'Halls', 'Manors', 'Saints' and 'Counties' were Mixed Traffic.Incedentally, if you are a Briton, why aren't you the "GoodsCowboy". In fact why are you even called Cowboy?Evenin'all

Nov-12-01, 12:36 PM (EST) 5. "RE: Hogwart's Express from Harry Potter" Y'know, if Capt. Bazza ever completes his model of "Dumbelton Hall", with a new coat of paint, suitable nameplates and a "5972" numberplate on the smokebox, you'd have your engine. Just make a rake of Mark 1 coaches (or even run the default Staniers as stand-ins) and Volia!

Nov-18-01, 02:14 AM (EST) 8. "RE: Hogwart's Express from Harry Potter" Pardon? Did someone (with a long memory) mention "Dumbleton Hall"?
This the "Tumbledown Hall" Hall class engine (no tender yet) of the Hogsnort's Express The loco is actually one of my very early efforts, which has required extensive reworking to get it ready for MSTS, this being just a test version, minus motion gear
and proper textures.Kiddies, please don't bug me for this, I'll do my best :-ODon't let the computer WIN! Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-19-01, 08:06 AM (EST) 12. "RE: Hogwart's Express from Harry Potter" WOW! Nice work capt! I saw the movie this weekend and let me tell you...THAT MOVIE IS GREAT! On the train though, i noticed that there was steam shooting up from the sides of the boiler. Like little pipes on the side of the engine drectly under the smoke stack, on the sides of the loco. Would this be possible to model also. Later,

Nov-18-01, 08:31 AM (EST) 9. "RE: Hogwart's Express from Harry Potter" Big Dave,Isn't it amazing how somewone will start flamming another just because of a mistake in a class of loco?
Just try and fit these into that smal mind of yours;1. The magazine I read that in was from months ago. Consequently, I could've misread it, or forgotten exactly what it said.2. Not knowing the classes of some steam locos from my country does not make me any less of a rail fan. I personally dislike the GWR, and I will admit I know little of the names of classes of moste engines. Doesn't mean I'm a twit3. I can put what I want on my username, thank you.4. Find something to talk about, without starting on someone who gets something wrong. The Freight Cowboy Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

BTW, is the download server on TrainSim.com file library fixed yet? The Freight Cowboy Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
