Dec-24-01, 09:16 AM (EST) 3. "RE: NH Modern Locos" The New Haven like the Confederacy will never die! It'll live forever in the hearts and minds of a few million old pick up truck driving red-necks! LOL! Actually what you are looking at is a Connecticut DOT(Department of Transportation) Genesis Loco painted in their "New Haven Heritage" paint scheme... They have FL9s and a GP40 or two in this scheme! All are in use on the Metro North Commuter Railroad in and out of New York City. Great Idea IMHO! There is also at least one FL9 painted in New York Central Lightning Stripe also run by Metro North. This one runs along the Hudson towards Albany. Pennsylvania DOT is discussing painting at least the engines and maybe the cars of the refurbed equipment they will be supplying for the Keystone (New York to Harrisburg) into a Pennsylvania RR Heritage scheme. Their AEM7s when they get them (they'll start with EP60s) may be painted in Brunswick Green with Gold Stripes/Lettering (remember these are box cabs and in the PRR scheme were green! Only some GG1s were Tuscan Red)....A little backgroud is in order. A lot of the State DOTs are starting to supply equipment for their intra state service or local routes.... CalTrans in California, Metro North (which is run by Ct. DOT and NY DOT) in and out of NYC going north and west, Pa. DOT from New York to Philadelphia and on to Harrisburg immediately come to mind. Even though they may contract the running of the service to AMTRAK (Metro North and Pa. DOT) they want their equipment to be unique so they are using the appropriate Heritage Scheme for their area.... A rail fans dream come true!

The problem is that MS/KUJU's texturing is so screwed up on the Genesis that we can't get there from here!
We (several designers not just NALW) had been discussing "building" a "new" Genesis Texture/Shape/Mesh that could be easily repainted before several of our illustrious members "went on leave"...
We all know it has to be done... The question is, who will do it now?
