Apr-30-02, 12:33 PM (EDT) "Download Problems" When I download cars I always run a check with Con-builder and I ofen find one of two problems:
-Wag File: The name is incorrect on the Wagon Line
-Sd File: The file is pointing to an .S file that is not in the folder. Both are easily fixed with Word-Pad but am I doing something wrong in the download? Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-30-02, 03:03 PM (EDT) 1. "RE: Download Problems" When I started downloading files I saw the same problem. Most of the re-skinners create the files, but they do not change the .sd files in many cases. For example most of them point to the stock file name, or the one that they started with before the re-skin. I extract all of the files to a temp area and then inspect all the .sd, .wag, and .eng files for those errors and for aliasing the sound and cabview locations. You are not creating the error, it is a result of the person posting the files not making sure the files work ConBuilder. As someone pointed out MSTS doesn't care about the shape name if the file is in the directory, but since the person making the changes created new filenames you see these errors. Just keep checking them and keep on simming.Richard

Apr-30-02, 03:12 PM (EDT) 2. "RE: Download Problems" No, nothing wrong, I've been bringing it up on the posts every now and again trying to get folks to correct the name and s file lines and put a name line in. Maybe one day.Kevin Arceneaux Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

May-01-02, 03:38 PM (EDT) 3. "RE: Download Problems" I have been taking the same approach. One comment I had earlier was that the person changing the files is not a programmer and is not aware of the conflict in the file. They create the changes and during the zip they remove files that are not supposed to be there such as the shape file from a stock wagon and upload it. They are not testing the archive to see of the user getting it will be able to use the newly installed wagon. I see them with paths that are not standard and those who have a readme that states you must use this exact directory name. I prefer the later in some ways when they are providing a consist because the consiste directory and the new install must be the same. I have also had to correct the Sound statement because the "" marks are not in the file such as Sound ( esecab.sms). ConBuilder jumps right on that when the quote marks are not there.Richard
