"RE: Driving the trains as a passenger" Not completely - although you could make an activity where an Acela, for example, starts at 80mph, and coasts down the NEC while other trains go by, and you would need to do very little.Might be bit dull after a while though, but if you downloaded some of the routes with great scenery, then might be more fun.SIMTRAIN UK

Apr-20-02, 06:09 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Driving the trains as a passenger" If you mean to do an introductory train ride for a route then you do the following."In the act file for the route, change the mode from 2 to 0 and your activity becomes an ITR. Only 1 ITR allowed per route"That is from a friend over at www.uktrainsim.com. But before modifying anything, remember to backup your previous file. Apr-20-02, 11:43 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Driving the trains as a passenger" LAST EDITED ON Apr-20-02 AT 11:53 AM (EST)"sas_simon" has got it right. You can take any activity and change the setting in the ACT file to Mode(0). Then just run the activity as the Introductory Train Ride for that route. That's why you can have only one at a time in the ACTIVITIES folder. MSTS sees only the first one in the folder when you activate the ITR in the program. You can do this with any activity. MSTS runs the Player Train with the AI Controller, same as what runs the Traffic trains. (with some slight performance differences). But you can make Traffic patterns (check out Torben's great Activity Changer!), stops at platforms, any paths you want, reverses, all kinds of interesting travels. If you get into doing these kind of travels (not a popular activity here on the forum, as far as I can see), be sure and do a couple of things. Uncheck the "Change views" box before you start the ITR. And once you start it, hit F1 (Help) right away, and then close it. Doing this enables the F5, F6 and F10 tools, which, of course, are really useful for any train trip.If you want sound, but don't want that annoying intro message, you can edit out the lines in one of the files in the GLOBAL folder which reference WAV files. Forgive me, it's been some months since I looked there, but it could be a file like ITR.TUT or something like that. Search around here, cause other folks have pointed this outAll the camera view keys work; be sure and check out Ctrl-Shft-9, which switches the "2" and "3" views to a kind of tracking shot. Same key combo unswitches it.And, of course, don't even think about a train trip without Jak Fearon's Sky Conductor 2.Happy train riding! It's my favorite way to travel.Jeff Bush Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
