Apr-07-02, 12:18 PM (EST) "Regional Load Error" Uh oh!
I save in an activity ... by the f2 key, or the slow way, via esc ... save game ... then when I endeavor to load the saved game, I get this error message: ”Regional load error - parent Progress does not exist.”
I have not yet checked other routes ... so far this happens regularly (each time) on the NE Corridor. Now consider this: If I close the game and reboot, saved activities on NE Corridor are available. One time. Try to reload a save from within MSTS? ”Regional load error - parent Progress does not exist.”Probably the total reboot is not needed ... I keep trying different things ... reluctant to uninstall and reinstall MSTS ... THIS IS NOT A GAME! (This is a challenging environment!). (And there is so much interlaced with MSTS on this system now! OK. Questions: Has some moving activity overwrote and moved on? Is there a known remedy? Have you seen this error message? Is there a file to down load somewhere and run? Does the MSTS patch (which I’ve avoided so far) fix deals like this? Does the patch cause us to fuddle Sky Conductor, Route Control, and Con Builder, and or the walls of this office? Now at this end of this message I whisper ... because I know it has been asked and answered: I can not figure out the turn around arrow! I’ve seen this question asked and answered in this forum, and askers have gone away happy with answers ... yet I’m still at a loss: What does the turn around do? Pick up a train and face it in the opposite direction? I approach such a turn around ... halt at it before it, on it ... after it, reverse forward by the red light to the red light before the red light after it disappears, before it disappears ... using the compass ... using views ... I see no difference and I don’t understand! What is supposed to happen, and “1 ... 2 ....3" how do I get in step?jivajiva Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: Regional Load Error" Don't know the save problem you are having.re the reverse arrow: go past it till it disappears off the screen, then you can reverse to pick up what was intended. On NEC all switches are automatic, but you must get past the switch point (reverse arrow). On other routes switches are manual, so you have to switch them yourself. Hope this helps.David

Apr-08-02, 01:05 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Regional Load Error" Yah ...! Helps. Kind of. (About reverse arrow). On NEC, I've downloaded a fine activity in which I am to pick up freight cars ... the activity has a "hard" and an "easy" mode ... I don't remember the name of this activity ... but one of the early things to do in this pastime is to go up to I think .. Forest 2 and pick up more cars. Now ... these cars are on a siding ... all one has to do is go past the switch ... back in, pick up the cars and "drive" away. UNLESS one is trying to figure out the deal on the turn around arrow!!
There are as you know, routes where switches are manual ... what is the turn around arrow for?
(I'm glad we're whispering here ... off to the side ... everyone else knows this topic has been asked and asked and answered and answered ... it is one of those things where once I get it ... I'll smack my forehead ...
but really ... DT .. what do the Turn Around Arrows do? Indicate that we should go past them and then just reverse? Do nothing? Turn the train around as if a giant hand came down and picked them up?
I dunno!
Pssst! I "created" my own activity last night!! Will post on this board later about how poor (sim depth poor) lowly end user was able to at last "put MY face in the place" ...
But seriously ... if you can clarify the turn around arrow for me ... well ... you'd be pulling a thorn out of my brain!!

Apr-08-02, 06:11 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Regional Load Error" LAST EDITED ON Apr-08-02 AT 06:12 PM (EST)HEHE! The switches on the NEC are automatic, not manual. The turnaround arrow does the rail switch for you, rather than you doing it manually using F8 screen. Once you have gone past it, and reverse, it will set the switch for where u need to go. It is as simple as that!David Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-08-02, 09:32 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Regional Load Error" You mean ... the turn around does nothing but throw the switch! Is it time for me to smack my forehead?
