Feb-28-02, 06:09 PM (EST) "After Virus Problem." Had virus that infected 551 files. All seems back to almost normal except:
Problem 1
One of the many files that were affected was C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\GUI\Shared\igstrt_g.ace which could not be repaired and was deleted. Can anyone tell me where I can get this file so I can re-install?Problem 2
After I choose the route and hit start the next screen that comes up has the map of the route and below that the loading scale, in between those two their use to be english but now it is all jibberish. Not sure this is associated with the virus as I believe I had it prior to the virus.Thanks---Jerry---

Mar-05-02, 06:28 PM (EST) 8. "RE: After Virus Problem." something that nobody has mentioned: get some decent virus protection. There is stuff going around now that even hits you from the internet, no warning, no open up this email attachment, no nothing. Avoid Macaffree, they are way too slow updating. Personally, I use Norton, though there might be others as good, and update at least twice a week.David Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-05-02, 08:57 PM (EST) 9. "RE: After Virus Problem." David,Thanks for the reply.I should know better then to open an .exe file but I was in a hurry and thought I was receiving pictures of my Grandaughter. The day after I received the virus and after installing Norton it found another virus (.exe attachment) in my e-mail. Norton has saved me, wish I had it installed prior to getting the original virus.Live and learn!!!Still can not stop screen long enough to find the corrupted file
left over from the original virus. Don't know what to do about that.---Jerry---

Mar-06-02, 00:36 AM (EST) 10. "RE: After Virus Problem." Hi Jerry,Just insert CD1 of MSTS and double click on the file with the name GAME.CABIf the icon doesn't look the same as in the picture, then start WinZip first and browse to the same file with WinZip
using the menu option "Open Archive".Message Areas - "After Virus Problem." – image 2Now you will see all files in WinZip.Message Areas - "After Virus Problem." – image 3Look for the file you need and select it. Then press the EXTRACT button in winzip and select the 'Use Folder Names" option.Message Areas - "After Virus Problem." – image 4Browse to the root directory of MSTS, "<C:>\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\" in the treelist.
Then press the Extract button in the dialog to UnZip the file to your harddisk. With the MSTS root I mean the folder ...\Train SimulatorThere is really no need to install the whole game again. Take Care,
