Feb-24-02, 06:14 PM (EST) 4. "RE: WOW.....Check this out..." Guess with such a 3D model we could make an experiment to see if negative frame rates are physically possible... D.M.

Feb-24-02, 08:30 PM (EST) 5. "RE: WOW.....Check this out..." I would be extremely cautious with an experiment like that
If you did manage to achieve negative frame rates (although I`ve come pretty damn close),your computer would probably undergo instantaneous gravitational collapse and become a black hole. Nice model though.Keith. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-25-02, 10:51 AM (EST) 8. "RE: WOW.....Check this out..." A truly fantastic piece of 3D modeling! - there will come a day when we will have this kind of detail in MSTS - maybe version 9.5 or something, but that day will come! Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-25-02, 02:13 PM (EST) 10. "RE: WOW.....Check this out..." Ok, that's one weird looking loco.....
Maybe something from the Planet Zargos near Yevedibium Minor?
That'd look cool for some virtual railway beyond fiction. As for negative frame rates, I think the computer would just stop working permanently.Message Areas - "WOW.....Check this out..." – image 4 Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-25-02, 02:17 PM (EST) 11. "RE: WOW.....Check this out..." Pretty cool! Obviously not for the purist after reading some responses but definately has that Hollywood-Tim Burton appeal. Looks like the train you'd expect to see in the Batman movie series. Nice artwork Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-25-02, 02:52 PM (EST) 12. "RE: WOW.....Check this out..." LAST EDITED ON Feb-25-02 AT 02:58 PM (EST)I hate to contradict all the "experts" around here, but this train is true to pototype, and I've seen something like it in Europe in the 50's or 60's (memory of exact dates and place escape me, but you don't forget something like this!).I went to the author's website and here is what he has to say about the model:Class 27 M8079 2-6-2
Long after other train manufacturers had moved entirely to diesel-electric traction, Movkup's steel wheel on steel division, Railkup, continued the development of advanced steam-driven technologies. This led to the construction of the M8079, a 2-6-2 loco based on the proven class 26 frame. The M8079 featured a controlled circulation boiler and was equipped with a condensation and powdered coal tender. Instead of a firebox it utilized a combustion chamber connected to a nest of boiler tubes for the evaporator. The smoke box had an induced draft system with a propulsion turbine. The M8079 could manage 3,200 horsepower and a maximum speed of 82 km/h. Although other manufacturers had experimented with these technologies, only the M8079 proved reliable enough for regular freight service on the Capital railways. As for me, I'd love to see it in MSTS! but it probably does belong in a fantasy route and not the NEC
