Feb-08-02, 02:41 PM (EST) "Bodiddly RR update: Zanesville Steel" I gave the whole highline situation some thought and have tried this solution. Let me know what you think. For those who don't know what the highline is, this is where coke is delivered to the furnace which is then brought up to the furnace by the skip cars. Typically the skip cars originate from below. With the previous pictures the skip cars were originating from the same level as the track. But with out limited objects I didn't think a true highline could be created. So this a solution I came up with.
I've taken Bjorn's (alias Nalle) new EMRR rdc's out for a spin and I've already taken the ramp up to the highline. Bill (the longiehairwizardry guy) said it should be about 20' up in the air. These are 50' segments, one each side and I gotta tell you, I hate doing bridges in MSTS!
The highline track is double-tracked and approximately 300 meters. The addition of the highline allowed me to add more peripheral tracks to the plant.
You can see the skip track still originates from ground level. The coke is dropped from the cars above and various kinds of moving equipment will shuffle the mounds of coke to the skip cars. Note also the wooden bridge still is there in the background. Some more shots to see.
Whatcha think? Rich Garber Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

LOLSeriously, It looks great, and from your past exploits, I am sure the route and any activities will be great too. There are a few other routes that are good, but you are the only one to produce a good finished product with loads of difficult activities. The installs are easy too, what more could anybody want.To be honest, you should be asking for a payment. If someone can ask $5 for one locomotive, whats your work worth? On the other hand, I may not be able to afford it! LOLYou are a great Guy Rich, and I thank you for everything you have done.David Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-09-02, 00:06 AM (EST) 5. "RE: Bodiddly RR update: Zanesville Steel" Well thanks folks but all I did was lay the track. The structures are Deanville's, Nickf's and Enocell's and the cars shown are Bjorn's repaints of some Swedish car.BTW, there are two paper mills put on the route already finished. There's behind the steel mill a ways. You pass it on the way to the steel mill. What happens is the branch starts deep into Zanesville and makes it way past three industries served by the railroad. Then the spur winds itself up a small hill and crosses over the mainline and then heads on out to a iron ore pit. A cutback junctions off of the branch and cutbacks down to the steel mill. A further industry for making coiled steel is served behind the steel mill. I think this area will wipe out any semblance of frame rate when its done I'm afraid.Rich Garber
