Feb-06-02, 11:04 PM (EST) "Coming soon... CNW Commuter train!" For all those who inquired about the CNW bi-level cars:
I have uploaded a CNW commuter train-set, including an F7 locomotive. The bi-levels are based on a repaint originally done by Brownstone. I've modified that skin and added a cab car as well. The lighting modifications are by Kelley. Look for it in the Downloads section, real soon.Ken Martello

Feb-08-02, 00:09 AM (EST) 5. "RE: Coming soon... CNW Commuter train!" Now you did it. I was just plugging away on my new route out to the Coors Brewery in Golden, Colorado near where I now live and you come along and post a consist that takes me back to when I was a kid in Barrington and watched these all day. Now I got to build the Northwest line from Chicago to Crystal Lake. Just when I thought it was safe to get away from the route editor...Great job! Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-09-02, 08:43 PM (EST) 7. "RE: Coming soon... CNW Commuter train!" Maybe I spoke (wrote) too soon! Does anyone else have a problem running in reverse? My consist goes about 10 feet then begins to creep forward again. ???? How? I thought there might be a Cab view from the rear car. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-09-02, 09:45 PM (EST) 8. "RE: Coming soon... CNW Commuter train!" Same problem here. I can't run in reverse. The train doesn't just creep forward. When I have it in reverse and turn up the throttle it acts as though the reverser is in forward. Any ideas?John Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-10-02, 00:00 AM (EST) 9. "RE: Coming soon... CNW Commuter train!" Sorry about the reverse problem. Here is what Kelley had to say about it during testing: Only trouble I see is in reverse. If you don't notch out SLOWLY, you will end up going back forward, in reverse!! I have no clue why either!!I bumped up Adheasion and that seemed to help, but I'm not an .ENG file expert. If you're running this on Marias Pass, I don't think commuter trains would normally face those types of grades.
Perhaps one of the .ENG file gurus could fix it, or just add the other CNW F7A (#4072-C) to the consist, that should kick up the H.P.!

Feb-10-02, 01:11 AM (EST) 10. "RE: Coming soon... CNW Commuter train!" Hi All, I tried to post earlier but couldn't. Ken is right. I found some new info as well.
I thought it might be in light codes, or something in the way the commuter is set up, even the route choice and ALWAYS have the same trouble as the rest of you. if you notch up in reverse like a notch every 10-15 seconds, it will gradually gain speed. Not very prototypical...so, I researched it further.......I made another passenger consist with the TA re-skinned VIA cars in CNW, GN, SP&S,and CB&Q colors and used both of Ken's F-units. (BTW, those re-skinned cars are fantastic!!!!) The whole consist is 10 cars long. In forward, track speed is no trouble. BUT..go into reverse...same problem...notch up fast, and the train goes forward. Don't matter what route either!!It HAS to be something in the .eng file, but darned if I can find it!! I tried removing my lighting just to see if I screwed it up but got the same thing. (Where is Chris Lee when ya need him?? )I am just really learning about the whole .eng file, so I am not much help at this point. But I can tell you it is not in the trainset itself. Unless Kuju thought the F7 should NEVER go in reverse!!! J/KSo if you can "Live" with the slow acceleration until we can get the blasted F-unit into the M-19A Diesel shops, (CNW's Chicago passenger unit repair facility..now Metra) I promise to keep working on it!!!In the meantime, please enjoy the set!!! and , may I say THANK YOU to Ken, and the original maker known as BROWNSTONE for the wonderful work they did!!!Now, if we just had the east-west mainline........hmmmmmmmm!!!

Feb-11-02, 09:20 AM (EST) 11. "RE: Coming soon... CNW Commuter train!" Hi Kelley,
I have a hunch it is not in the .eng file. but in one of the other files. I would be happy to look at the .eng file if you would email it to me.
Thanks,
