Feb-06-02, 03:56 PM (EST) "To install or not to install..........." I have downloaded the patch, but not installed it yet.The reasons?1. I do not have much trouble with the front coupler, believe it or not, Ok I have to shove a bit to get going, but thats it.2. The Tokio line night stuff, I fixed myself, by putting the right night files where they should have been in the first place.3. The other Japanese route doesnt have any snow activities anyway. 4. My graphic drivers work ok. Don't fix what aint broken.Other than that, has anybody noticed any frame rate increase with the patch?David Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-06-02, 06:01 PM (EST) 1. "RE: To install or not to install..........." David, I'm with you. I understand a lot of people want the front coupler bug fixed, but it doesn't bother me. I'm mainly a through-train operator, switching has never excited me that much, in today's railroading the through freight is king, more profit there. Local switching is disfavored for accounting reasons because it's so much more expensive, thus the RR's moving to intermodal and unit trains as the prime profit centers. Which is to say, I also downloaded and decided not to install after reading about lockups and the limited fixes. Now if they patch the buggy track on Marias to stop uncoupling, and I can go back to default coupler break values and really test my train-handling ability, then I'm all over it. For now, there's a 7+ mb file in my downloads folder that will stay there. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

I am a diesel man who rarely strays from the US, so the steam loco sanding problem and the Japanese lines really do not affect me. I just wanted the front coupler to work ok (though i do mostly passenger, every now and again i do enjoy a good switch-fest!), and for the most part, after the patch now it does. I played for a while last night and never had any graphics issues or lockups.
I guess the real answer to the install or not to install question is entirely dependant on how the end user uses the sim.------ BUZZ ------
