Feb-05-02, 10:24 PM (EST) "MSTS 2 = proper scale?" Look at the pic..that's a Kiha, one of the smaller locos in the train sim..now look at that little red vehicle beside it. You could fit an automobile in each seat of the Kiha's passenger cars! Talk about carpooling!Message Areas - "MSTS 2 = proper scale?" – image 1 Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Kuju also messed up on Tokyo-Hakone route.
They measured distance in Miles when Planning, but used them as Meter when building the route.
That's why distance is so short between stations. If you multyply the distance by 1.6, you get real distance between stations. How STUPID.
And if you realize, later in the route, station's distance ios greater and that's because KUJU realized that they made mistake.
HOW STUPID GOD DAMN IT.

I'm amazed to hear that - makes a mockery of Kuju's design team Also, as I understand it, MSTS uses the same guage to represent many different sizes of train, and uses the scenery to create an illusion of scale... is that right? I mean, a Dash 9 shouldn't fit through the tunnels on the European or Japanese routes, but it does! The scales cannot be the same, because a Dash 9 should dwarf a Sries 7000 (shouldn't it?!!), and it simply doesn't!That would explain the cars being the wrong size - the cars are modelled for the American scale, and as a result look far too small when used in relation to a Japanese train... doesn't it?! <confused!>Message Areas - "MSTS 2 = proper scale?" – image 2 Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Your not wrong about any of that! It seems they created a system that was capable of taking everything at exactly 1:1 ratio and then just ignored it and build pretty models from photo's istead of acurate 1:1 drawings. They got a hell of a lot wrong with them. There's no excuse for it. Flying Scotsman is a total joke. Given the amount of access they were granted to it it should have been exactly right!! Truth is they just spent the time with it on train playing freebee!! Best Regards,

Feb-06-02, 05:57 AM (EST) 4. "RE: MSTS 2 = proper scale?" Part of the reason for this is that they couldn't be bothered to make track at different gauges. As the majority of the railways in Japan are at 3'6" rather than the more common 4'8.5". In order to keep them looking right, they scaled the trains up. This goes horribly wrong when you then attempt to mix the Japanese stuff with the western stuff. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
