Feb-04-02, 08:55 AM (EST) "Detail Level question???" I'm currently using 5 as my detail level setting. I want to know why when I changed the level for all the road sections in the Tehachapi pass route(in the shapes folder), it still shows up as being their default level of 7? I can't for the life of me understand it. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Feb-04-02, 09:31 AM (EST) 1. "RE: Detail Level question???" This is a route editor forum question. Not that I'm saying you can't post it anywhere you want, it's just that if you can figure out what category the problem belongs in, it's usually better to post it in a forum where more people who might know the answer hang out. You wanna have some fun, re-post this question in the trainz forum! You wouldn't get any useful answers, but it might stir them up a little.
The problem here is in the \world\*.w files. When you place an object on the route, the default shadow and detail level info is assumed unless you change it by right clicking on it. When you change the SD file, you're changing what the editor uses for the default, but any of the objects already placed on the route use the values they already had when they were placed. Placing a new road section after you hacked the SD file will cause it to default to the new setting in the SD file, but I don't think there's any quick way to change objects that are already placed. Right clicking on an object and changing it's detail level in the route editor adds the following at the bottom of the entry in the .w file:Static (
UiD ( 263 )
FileName ( US2MetalBarrier.s )
StaticFlags ( 00040000 )
Position ( -700.867 -6.95868 250.63 )
QDirection ( -0.533514 0.540811 0.460816 0.45884 )
VDbId ( 4294967293 )
StaticDetailLevel ( 0 )
)To change all the road sections on the route you could try changing one in the route editor, then adding the line for the StaticDetailLevel at the bottom of all the others. I assume you know enough to back up the \world folder before trying this. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
