Jan-12-02, 11:21 AM (EST) "Are TA breaching the Human Rights act?" Keeping us in suspense for all this time about their new engine -feels like torture to me, which is illegal I believe. Praying for something big, very big - with many wheels, perhaps 2-8-8-2 ???

Sorry, need more clues. How about a picture, but chopped up into little pieces, or a picture of a small part of the loco so we can guess what it is?Odds are I won't know what it is anyway - but that hasn't stopped me with any other US loco.More Steam = more funEuston

Well you should be... I have a feeling it's gonna get mighty ugly trying to get into the TrainArtisan website when they put this stuff up! Doesn't matter, I'll just keep trying... and trying... and trying! I notice the website returns a "busy signal" pretty often right now. I'm guessing everyone else is checking everyday, just like me! Says a lot about your work, guys. Thanks.Mike

Jan-12-02, 05:54 PM (EST) 12. "RE: Are TA breaching the Human Rights act?" Very true - I've been checking every day, and every day it usually returns Error #403 code: too many users connected. It certainly shows an amazing level of anticipation by the TrainSim community!Anyway, depending upon the nature of this deal with a RR company that they mentioned, it might extend as far as providing more access to their website, and their own dedicated fast servers (fast for those lucky people to have DSL/cable!).

Jan-12-02, 10:16 PM (EST) 16. "RE: Are TA breaching the Human Rights act?" My hunch is that it's a Union Pacific Big Boy and an SP Daylight GS4.The railroad could be Union Pacific, but I hope its Norfolk Southern. The wait sure is torture, but I'm sure it's worth it. Oh, I can't wait for the Super Chief and the dome car, I sure hope its soon. -- Chris -- Btw, I do hope the excursion locomotive is a N&W Class J. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-12-02, 10:29 PM (EST) 17. "RE: Are TA breaching the Human Rights act?" I'll give you another clue,The locomotive has run in the past 4 years on major main line trips. That should narrow it down some, remember that is the excursion loco. The other one could still be one of your guess's I don't know if the idenity of the loco will be released this week, however the major RR company will be released.Chris Lee

Jan-13-02, 02:23 PM (EST) 28. "RE: Are TA breaching the Human Rights act?" I tend to agree with SD40, I think its the BNSF. (Think Santa Fe Chief for a reason) The excursion loco could be either the 1522 or 3751. Personally I'd love to see the 3751. Its a beautiful locomotive.ROCK

Jan-13-02, 06:45 PM (EST) 34. "RE: Are TA breaching the Human Rights act?" >BTW..the company is probably UP. since
>BNSF got all the fanfare
>the first time around!!! I thought I heard rumours when I first started reading this board (before I joined up) that UP was the initial choice for the US freight railroad, but refused to co-operate over "security" issues (thinking that anyone would de able to drive a real train after playing MSTS? What a lot of wrecks there would be if people went from playing MSTS and hijacking an idling UP engine, thinking it would handle the same ). So if it is UP, that represents a major turn-around in policy!I still think it's BNSF (spiting M$ in the process) but apart from UP, BNSF & Amtrak, what other railroads are there still in existence? (BTW, that's not a rhetorical question - I really don't know!) Does CSX still operate?Still, I'm looking forward to finding out. Not long now!

Jan-13-02, 07:05 PM (EST) 35. "RE: Are TA breaching the Human Rights act?" Yes, MS initialy picked UP as the RR that would "star" in MSTS, but when they approached them to film one of their routes, it was either Techacapi or Cajon I can't remember UP turned them down in a heart beat citing the fact that it would encourage many people to steal trains. To make it worse, right before MSTS hit stores they expessed this to the TS community and very flamed big time with the great Onion Pacific deal. BNSF stepped in the back door and has been very friendly, and they have their logo everywhere while UP has nothing.CSX, does still run, in 1998 it aquired 42% of Conrail, NS aquired the other 58%. CN and CPR are the other major North American RR's.Yes, its not long now.

Jan-13-02, 07:20 PM (EST) 36. "RE: Are TA breaching the Human Rights act?" Thanks for clearing that up It still brings a grin to my face, the fact that UP are so paranoid - they thought everyone would go running out to the nearest yard looking for a nice shiny yellow lump of metal to steal! Surely there is some mechanism in place anyway to stop anyone wandering up to an idling loco and nicking it?! Don't they remove the reverser handle or something?I also wonder if RR's care much over whether their logo appears or not? After all, BNSF having their logo everywhere in MSTS will hardly have affected business (likewise for UP without their logo), will it? Unless a lot of people playing it are head honchos of big corporations that need lots of freight moving...

Jan-13-02, 07:28 PM (EST) 37. "RE: Are TA breaching the Human Rights act?" Yes, enginners are supposed to remove the reversers but sometimes they don't, it would also get annoying carrying about 50 different reversers around in your grip, although most locos use the same ones. The only way that UP would ever give in to MSTS, as I see it would be if something effected their shippers. There is only one thing that RR's think in, thats Money. If something has caused a loss of business and money, they will go back after it, they want the cash. Its sad but thats the current RR mindset today!!
