Jun-17-01, 08:27 PM (EST) "Steam Question - Fusible Plusgs?" Hi Folks,I am running a first steam activity and got a Fusible Plugs Melted error and termination of activity.I read what that meant but not how to avoid it. I have the automatic fireman on and don't know how to avoid this problem.I am pulling a long set of passanger cars and getting up to 50 mph when it happens. I tried to open the C Cock for a bit but that did not do it. How do I get more water pressure (I think that is the issue).Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot,bob Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jun-17-01, 11:52 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Steam Question - Fusible Plusgs?" You ran out of water. If you let the boiler run dry, the fusible plugs will melt and allow steam to douse the fire, so you don't get an explosion. You need to turn on one or both injectors and turn them up. My manual says I and O turn on injectors 1 and 2, and K/shift-K and L/shift-L increase and decrease water flow for them. Watch the boiler water level, try to keep it between half and three-quarters full.By the way, don't let it overfill. That's bad too. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jun-18-01, 02:45 AM (EST) 5. "RE: Steam Question - Fusible Plusgs?" You can use F-5 key to show the critical information in text form. Hit the key twice to get all info. I have run the steam engines for long distances and watch the steam generation and useage lines, adusting the reverser and regulator to keep steam usage below generation. Haven't had any problems since.Leafhopper Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jun-18-01, 03:13 AM (EST) 6. "RE: Steam Question - Fusible Plusgs?" I've run with the automated fireman and never touched anything on the left side. Ran for over two hours before running out of water where the train just shut down - no plug problems, just rolled back on the hill >
You shouldn't have to do anything but brakes, regulator and johnson bar as the game is rather simplified when this option is selected. That's not to say its easy to control however... Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jun-18-01, 04:45 AM (EST) 7. "Not correct ..." I run with the auto fireman and he definitely runs the injectors too. Never had to touch it, and (with F5 HUD up) I can see the level in the tender run down.Try this -- next time, keep the full HUD up (F5 twice) and watch the water level in the boiler and the amount left in the tender. Tell us what happens. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jun-18-01, 12:18 PM (EST) 8. "RE: Not correct ..." OK, I thought that I had the fireman on automatic but it was not. Apparently, you have to check the box when in an activity rather than the Explore Route. If you do it there it does not seem to carry over to the activities.Working like a charm. Those steam locos are really neat.bob Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
