Jan-07-02, 11:08 PM (EST) "Snow Crashes" I have MSTS on a Windows ME system, 866 MHz, 128MB Ram. Every time I try to "EXPLORE THE ROUTE", and select WINTER and SNOW, the computer crashes, no matter which route. The "send to Microsoft" note comes up, the message gets sent (I think), then the screen freezes.Haven't found any other glitches, so far -- does anyone have an idea what's going on?Thanks.John Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-07-02, 11:25 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Snow Crashes" System specs? Need newest DirectX and video drivers. Your processor should keep the fps up a little during snow... but you may have an outdated video card, driver, or dx. Provided you've got all the texture files where they need to be. If you're all up to date on drivers and your card is either a GeForce 2 or 3 (23.11 drivers current) and have DX 8.1 then goto the Troubleshooter on the start menu and see what you can do there.-Andy

Jan-07-02, 11:34 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Snow Crashes" Be aware that there's a Troubleshooter section in MSTS itself. You'll actually find a menu list and one of the checkboxes is referenced to" Snow causes game to crash" - check the box and restart the game.( If you use Windows Explorer, click on "launcher" in the MSTS directory).
Good Luck!

Jan-08-02, 09:09 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Snow Crashes" Thanks for the hint - didn't even know there was such a troubleshooting section -- maybe its time to read the manual!I took your suggestion and checked the box concerning snow, then restarted MSTS. Now it works just fine. BUT, why? Does the troubleshooting selection actually make a change in something within the program? Baffles me.Maybe I'll just stick to driving the trains . . .John Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
