I'm working on snowy track textures to go with the plows..
Needs some tweaking, but its getting there.. Also could probably change the texture on the cylinder cock steam to look more like snow.. Back to the lab!!
cheers

Jan-07-02, 10:12 PM (EST) 6. "RE: You can blame this on Ron Paludin" Hey HaroldGreat on the track texture, I think what would be ideal if possible is to lower the track below the surface somehow for snow activities and raise it back up for non snow activities by using a bat file. I have been playing around also trying to change the color of the snow, but it occured to me that it is this gray color to simulate the billowing effect of the steam. I dunno.Chuck Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-08-02, 01:04 AM (EST) 10. "RE: You can blame this on Ron Paludin" OK, as long as I don't get blamed for the snow in Buffalo (or South Carolina, or Georgia, or Florida).Changing the track textures seems to be the way to go for now if you want more snow on the tracks. I tried to create "Snow Pile" wagons that would couple in front of the plow, but It just wasn't very convincing. The movement of the "Piles" was simply too obvious.Another possible technique that I came up with would be an animated object that works like signals or crossing signals and is triggered by the passing of the train. But even if it could work, that would require a MASSIVE modification of an entire route. For now, I just keep the camera angle low.Ron PaludAn

>"Piles" was simply too obvious. I was thinking that too. Did you try to set the lenght parameter of the snow pile wagons to zero? That way they can be set along the tracks in an activity, and only nearest pile to the plow would start to move with it, until it meets the next pile. Since the lenght is zero, the piles will go on top of each other, creating an illusion that they would disappear into the plow. And the they wouldn't have to couple necessarily, they would just be pushed forward. >RonYea, it keeps snow balling...heheheHere are a couple of more pics, the wedge plow has only the sphere of lights added and adjusted so that the loco headlight will illuminate the track ahead, and so some of the head light will hit the back side of the plow on the front. Thanks to Rob Easterday for the suggestion a while back on putting the sphere on the plow.Chuck
