Jun-14-01, 01:44 AM (EST) "Vertical Kinks Near Conkelly?" While testing the F-7's, I notice something interesting and would like to have others report.Configuration: AT&SF F-7 units running in A-Reversed A-A with a manifest consist of about 20 default cars and a caboose. (THIS IS TEST POWER ONLY. PLEASE DON'T ASK. SINCE IT'S NOT AVAILABLE YET.) Derailments off since I was testing the *.eng file.Location: Began just east of the signal bridge at Conkelly, Marias Pass continued through the curves to the open "park" on top where I saved and exited since it was late.Running at about 30 mph with the outside view set low and on the roof of the first box aft of #3 power, I noticed the box car kick up suddenly. I immediately swung the view around to 3/4 front on the lead power. I noticed several more "kicks" on the train from front to rear. It was particularly noticable on the power. The trucks would bounce up and were occasionally followed by the car bodies bouncing as the power and the manifest passed over the point. It was very interesting to watch the trucks move independently of the locomotive car bodies. I observed the kicks all the way throught the curves.I'm going to test this section again with default power and derailments on. I may set a slow order through here since it looks like there's something wrong with the track geometry. We may be one the trail of our mysterious draw bar breaks and derailments.Mike Woodill

Jun-14-01, 04:00 AM (EST) 1. "RE: Vertical Kinks Near Conkelly?" Check my MP 1088.9 post over on Robert's board You are right to think this is a bug, as it usually breaks a coupler on . Best solution for the time being is to run the train real heavy up front and then just empty flats in the back. That's the best way I've found to avoid this problem.
I think MS maybe just missed it because there are no activities running through there and it ended up slipping through the cracks. If I understood the route editor, I would venture to fix it.....but that's another story altogether
If you can come up with a better fix than mine, please let us know!!
