Apr-13-01, 09:19 PM (EST) "Disappointed about MSTS' Northeast Corridor" Hello,My name is Jose Ramos, and I live in New York City. I am pleased, just as I'm sure all of you are, that Microsoft is coming out with a train simulator. However, I was disappointed when I learned that Microsoft's planned Northeast Corridor route would only cover Washington DC to Philadelphia. The primary reason is this - Amtrak's new Acela Express trains were meant to go farther and faster. Farther to destinations such as New York and Boston, and faster - up to 150 mph. I am not sure if the top speed in train simulator will be around the range of 135 mph - the same that it is now in this portion of the line. Indeed, according to reports, the 150 mph portion is reached on a stretch of track around the Rhode Island area.I urge Microsoft to reconsider their decision to cut the Acela Express line to only about 1/4 it's actual length for the simulator. I also urge them, if they plan to release any official addons for the train simulator, to add the rest of the line - that way if someone like me feels like driving a 2.75 hour Metroliner-type trip, that person can do it.Thanks for your attention

"RE: Disappointed about MSTS' Northeast Corridor" Personally, I'm dissapointed that they don't continue the Settle and Carlisle line down to Leeds, where it fully terminates.Plus: the Flying Scotsman never ran up the Settle & Carlisle line at lest they have the right train on the NE corridor.

What if they did the entire BNSF? they would have to model almost the entire US and southern Canada, there just isn't any time or space (modeling the entire BNSF, would probably take ATLEAST a CD in itself). Also they are trying for a spring release (June 8th last I heard), there just isn't any time to model entire routes or lines. But if the popularitiy is anything like flight simulator, give it about a month and free 3rd party add-ons will be availiable and will be better than microsoft's routes. My adivse: just let it slide, the faster they make it, the faster is will come out, the faster people will make better routes. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: Disappointed about MSTS' Northeast Corridor" First of all,Philly is real close to NYC.My problem is that the Acela is one of the ugliest locomotives ever to soil a set of rails.Plenty of much more interesting locos travelled the same route.I'm not a big Pennsy fan,but I'd much rather control a GG-1 or a T-1 steamer. In 1976 when I was a kid I went to Florida on Amtrak and it was a GG-1 that took us to Washington. Then F-40's the rest of the way.How about any classic American passenger route from the late 40's early fifties.I also have a problem with two Japanese passenger routes. How about some American or European commuter action?I guess it's up to the modmakers.
