I'm trying to install shape viewer 1.4 on a friends computer that uses windows ME. At first when I tried installing it the computer tried opening it as some type of mindspring internet configuration program that had a similar .MSI suffix. I checked on my computer ( windows XP pro ) to see what program it was supposed to use to open it. After finding out it needed msiexec.exe ( windows insatller package ) to open I retried it on the friends computer now everytime I try running it I get a popup window that says " Incorrect command line paramaters " Any suggestions as what to do ? Thanks

As far as I am aware, the routine for installing Shape File Viewer is to unzip the contents to a temporary location, and then run the file called setup.exe.There is no visible reference in the zipped files that suggest this is an MSI based installer. However, if you drop an email to the author, I am sure he will do his best to assist you. His addy is decapod @ highworth DOT freeuk DOT com and his name is Paul Gausden.Just remove the spaces from the address and put the DOTs inBeer is not a matter of life and death. It is much more serious than that.

On the contrary, the ZIP contains 2 files, SView14.msi and readme.txt.

RE: Shape viewer

I've got it taken care of. I found version 1.3 on another website and with it being a EXE it installed fine and after uninstalling and reinstalling conbuilder it works fine. We just came to the conclusion that there's some other problems with his computer being he's recently restored his computer and still having some of the same problems that he was having before restoring it.

RE: Shape viewer

There was an earlier version of 1.4 with an EXE - this does not work on ME or 98 and can cause really bad problems - the updated version uses the MSI installer. Both versions have the same functions.
