so i hope i can explain my slef clearly for you all. anyhow, i wanted to know: lets say you download and enginge from the FL here. then you add it to a consists and of you go an play. I was wondering can you add to the engine description that MSTS allows on say the BNSF SD40-2 that came with the game? You know how you can click the side button next the the drop down box for info on that locomotive? If you have a custom loco i thought it would be cool to add in the info. is there a way to do this?thanks, Gregalso: i got this error message sd40eng.sms failed. where should i begin to look to fix this?
I can't answer the first part of your question because I don't know myself. I'm still new to all this. As for as your sd40eng.sms file, I think that is the sound file and my guess is it's missing. Just check the sd40 folder to see if its there. If its not try downloading the file again. If you haven't done so already, I suggest downloading Route-riter and Conbuilder utilities, they are helpful tools to have and use.Especially with missing files. Hope this helps some.If not I'm sure someone will reply with more useful info.
Greg - you can add an item to the .eng file called Description (), with the info you're looking for between the parentheses. Open up one of the default .eng files and take a look at what's there. That'll show you how to formate things.Andy
In addition to Andy's statement: If you also want to get the proper picture of the custom loco when you click on the info button, you need to update the loco.ace file. Use AceIt to convert loco.ace to a .bmp file, paste in a screenshot of your custom loco (make sure not to alter the dimensions of loco.bmp!) save and convert the updated .bmp back into an .ace, overwriting the existing loco.aceSerious repainters should already have performed these two tasks in their files before they uploaded them...Lukas a.k.a Swissie
