I want to apologize to those of you waiting for my activity pack. Being an activity building noob, I made a couple of "lack-of-common-sense" mistakes while constructing the first activity. This activity starts with close to 2 hours worth of switching, and I'll be starting on the fourth in game test soon. I plan on building two shorter activities and one more long activity (which will hopefully go much smoother now that I know what to look for and what not to do). Please be patient, I will get them done.Shawn Becher

RE: WCRR activity pack

I finally got the first activity finished and after fixing all of my mistakes, everything works out great. I will be starting on the next activity later today. Once I have the first four activities done, I will upload them as a pack.Shawn Becher

RE: WCRR activity pack

LAST EDITED ON Feb-21-05 AT 05:42 PM (EST)

Well, as my luck would have it, I've run into issues with the second activity as well. Only this time I think it is a route related problem. The yard signal on the west end of Cashmere does not show up in the track monitor. I think I may have to move that signal down the track about 3 feet or so - it may be sitting on a switch. The yard signal at the east end of Cashmere suddenly drops to red as I am crossing the last switch before the signal (gives me about 10 feet to stop, or about 1/2 second to hit the TAB key). I'm not sure why this is happening, so I will be playing around with different paths for this particular activity. Don't hold your breath folks, it may be a bit yet.....Shawn Becher

RE: WCRR activity pack - *update patch in the works*

OK 2 problems solved, 1 more to go.I discovered that the yard signals exiting both ends of Cashmere yard were too close to the switches (which is why they were misbehaving), so I moved them out and they work correctly now. Many of you will be happy about my proposed resolution to the 3rd problem. When backing a train into the easternmost spur at the sawmill, I get 2 cars into the spur and then I get a "Failed to give adequate warning at a level crossing" error. Only thing is, there are no crossings on that segment of track. My proposed solution is to resent all of the crossings to 0%, thereby eliminating the need to sound the horn at crossings. If this doesn't solve this 3rd problem, I'll pull my hair out...I am going to test this out in the next couple of days and will hopefully have a v1.1 update patch posted by the end of this weekend.Shawn Becher

RE: WCRR activity pack - *update patch in the works*

Setting the collision % to 0 at all crossings solved this last problem I was having. I should be finished with the 2nd activity shortly. I have one more area of concern that I want to check out before releasing a version 1.1 update patch.Shawn Becher

RE: WCRR activity pack - *update patch in the works*

Testing continues on the second activity. I had to "fail" the signal at the sawmill so I didn't get trapped in there (for whatever reason the signal would not let me pass despite the fact that there isn't anything blocking the path ahead of me). Other than that, all is well (just watch out for the brakes when running light - engines don't stop all that fast on their own).Shawn Becher

RE: WCRR activity pack

Shawn,Your not the only one to make a boo-boo. I ran the BNSF Transfer activity and decided that it wasn't stormy enough. So I fired up Kosmos and put in the Abula21SpringRainWithMOThunder2 environment. All the thunder and lightning were great...that is until I passed the waiting AI. The river had overflowed it's banks and couldn't stop before shorting out the traction motors. The guys down at the maintenance shop now refer to me as, "The U-Boat Commander." It's not nice to fool with Mother Nature.Bill

RE: WCRR activity pack

I'd like to see a screen shot of that! How did the river overflow its banks onto the tracks?? I know there are a couple real low spots where a good heavy rain would cause that to happen, but I didn't think that it was possible for it to happen within the limits of MSTS!!Shawn Becher

RE: WCRR activity pack

I'm starting to get excited now. The 4th activity is done and in testing right now. If I play my cards right, the activity pack could hit the file library by early next week (if not sometime this weekend!). Once testing on the 4th activity is done, there is one thing I want to go back and check in the 2nd activity. Once I'm done with that, we are gold! Shawn Becher
