Hi I'm new to train sim and it is great. I have added some engines that I downloaded from here to use. The first time I loaded up the Big Boy package wow great. The second was the GE mega pack when I finished there was only one engine to choose from the menu in the start up screen. The others are in the train file in the program but not selectable. How do I get them to the menu and how do I get rid of the engines I don't use like the Small Japanese ones?

RE: select locos

I could be that there are not consist files for all the GE mega pack engines. You might check ge2con1.zip in the file library. This is a nice tool to help you build your own consist files:
http://www.conbuilder.3dtrains.com/As far as getting rid of engines you don't use, it should be as simple as deleting the given folder in \Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\Trains\TrainSet\ folder. I suggest you tread carefully until you feel confident about doing that. Maybe just drag and drop said Japanese train folders in some holding area outside of the TrainSet folder until you can observe the result.Let us know if this info doesn't get you rolling. BK

RE: select locos

Train Store from the library is really great for "storing" unused/un-needed routes/trains/consists when you don't want to use them yet they are always available should you need or want them. It will greatly reduce the "load time" of the sim when you start and help performance since less is in memory.I would suggest taking a few minute to read the very comprehensive manual--at least the first part about what it is doing and why. It looks really big, but I got through it in about an hour, and it has made the whole experience much better. It only moves files, it does not alter them. Bryce
