Just checked out StreamLines website and it's now operational.http://www.streamlines.ca/consumer.htmlSomewhat of a disappointment for me that they will only focus on the two railroads CPR and BNSF.Oh well....hopefully they will release the UP pack and the NS freight pack in the very near future that we never got from MLT...assuming Danny will still be with Jason at SteamLines.Michael

Dunno anything about the UP pack, but you can download a set of NS locos at www.mapleleaftracks.com (payware).I dunno, why BNSF and CPR is a disappointment to you. Those are two awesome and interesting railroads! And imagine, two to three routes each, what that for possibilities might grant!Cheers!Sebastian

RE: StreamLines Website Up Now

BNSF and CPR are all OK and I will definitely purchase any and all of the routes/freight packs - I just prefer a variety - you see so many variations now that sometimes you don't know what railroad it is.Michael

New routes, new rolling stock . .. what's wrong with that? I'm looking forward to a new player in the arena and I wish them all the best.

RE: StreamLines Website Up Now

Great news that both sides of the former equation seem to be active again. My only concern is that the implied release of four routes in 2005 sounds a bit ambitious. Hope we and they are not disappointed.Regards,

RE: StreamLines Website Up Now

Sounds intresting, though I surely would not get your hopes up expecting 4-6 routes in 2005. If I read thier statement correctly, they expect to release 2-3 routes each for CP and BNSF. Unless they have a army of route builders, the best we can expect to see is maybe 2 routes in the upcoming year. Though I must admit, it sure it better than nothing, and one must certainly be curious as to what routes they will be. Only time will tell.....Chris Bogley

RE: StreamLines Website Up Now

I for one am happy to see these two railroads covered. For whatever reason there seems to have been an inordinate amount of stuff for Southern Pacific (at least 3 routes out there). Nothing personal about SP but there are a lot of other interesting routes out there and CP for one exists in many different regions as does BNSF whereas SP was more regional. My being Canadian aside I'd also like to see more CSX and NS as well.Bill Alder

Whatsamatter with SP???? I'd love to see the Long Island Failroad, from Montauk to Jamaica. Imagine the possible list of activities:o Late for Work, Morning
o Late for Work, Afternoon
o Faulty switch at Mineola
o Dusting of snow, all lines delayed

RE: StreamLines Website Up Now

SP was hardly regional, BN was regional compared to SP in many ways. Santa Fe was really regional compared to either BN or SP. But in reality none of these railroads really fit the definition of regional. The only railroads that could be considered Regional in the Western US ( mid 1980's timeframe) were CNW, DRGW, KCS, SOO, MKT. Of course true regional railroads were spun off from class 1's starting in the mid 1980's such as MRL, CCP, KBS, WC, and so many more. Ted Curphey

RE: StreamLines Website Up Now

I guess it depends on what you consider regional. How much of SP existed east of the Mississippi for instance? Did it go from Atlantic to Pacific? Yes SP covered a large area but I don't think you were going to see it in the northeast of the continent. For sheer span of operations I suspect the biggest have to be UP and BNSF now and maybe CN since they connected with IC (bragging sea to sea to sea). It's all just my opinion of course. If I'd grown up with SP I'd probably be as loyal but I didn't, I grew up in Western Canada and saw at various times, CP, CN, BCR (and it's predecessor PGE) and GN then BN. Living here in Ontario I've seen NS, CSX (and some older Chessie) and the odd UP being delivered down from London.Bill Alder

RE: StreamLines Website Up Now

Dear SP_Frank:Nothing wrong with SP...it's the West coast version of LIRR...only U Californians got the colors all "Poamped-Ooaaahped".....red/grey instead of orange/grey.I'd like to see more LIRR too....BNSF, UP, CSX & NS are getting sickening. EVERYONE's got payware sets for them.At least the HO train makers are doing LIRR....20 yrs. ago with them all you could get was ATSF F-7's.Also with LIRR Train-Simming you forgot these:o Late for Dinner, Evening
(alternate activity: Wifey Pissed)
o Union Work Stoppage/Wildcat
(alternate activity: Nobody gets Home)
o "The usual" Amtrak switch/signal "problems"
o NEWSDAY be-rates LIRR service
(alternate activity: Ask for Bond Issue Money: extend 3rd rail,
more M-1s, build high level platforms (is it 4 houses = 1 hotel??)
o Discourage ridership: schedule 1 train every 8 hours, then
don't stop at all, close & abandon station for low patronage. Also to "SSYTRNOL".....Maple Leaf Tracks went out of business last month, how can you show their link to download stuff??????????
(The boogers still have my $25 for the Cascades Crossing was supposed to have gotten the week before they closed)Doug

COOL! I always liked BN (even though I'm from the east coast) and CP Rail was my first real experiance in Railroading when my dad bought me a movie on Kicking Horse Pass when I was small. From there I thought everything was either a SD40-2 or a GP35 Really good news though

RE: StreamLines Website Up Now

OK, I see what they are doing. By just focusing on two railroads, they will be able to use rolling stock from one on the other one. It will save time in the long run. I am glad that CP is on their to do list. I have learned to love that railroad through MSTS. BNSF should be nice too but I would perfer UP, SP, or D&RGW. It looks like there will be plenty of pay ware routes in the future. MSTS is looking up for once StreamLines Website Up Now – image 16

The WP Feather River canyon route wouldn't be bad, either.

RE: StreamLines Website Up Now

OK, STOP THE PRESS FOR A MINUTE. The news release says they are currently looking at focusing on 2 RR's and their routes. It doesn't say that those will be the only two RR's they will focus on. Perhaps in time others will come.
The news release also says that they initially focus on 2 RR's, and will have focused activty packs and locomotive packs based on those RR's. Now to me that seems like a varient on the traditional RR routes that have been developed to date. I may be off on a limb here but does that mean that they will provide a sense of history for those routes?
For example say they were to choose "Maria's Pass" as a route for the BN does it mean they would do a BN era products, as well as other packs based on the ATSF/BN merger and then a modern BNSF product?
I could be wrong here but they talk about BN/ATSF/BNSF products. To me that means they will provide something that pertains to each RR as it existed. That could be kind of cool as it would present a sense of history for each products.
My only concern is that only time will tell what's happening.
Cheers,
Jay
