I an attempt to thin down my trainsset folder, I decided to start deleteing all old rolling that fall far short of modern MSTS standards of today, like the repaints of default rolling stock. Now for the defaults:Now....is it easier to delete them and then fix the consists for activities in conbuilder??? ORIs it just easier to delete them replace them with better models , but rename them with default names so not to mess up the consists and activities with a ton of errors. Basically, Take the the piggyback car , US2frieghtcar, delete it. Then make a copy of a Ted Curphey RTTX car and rename it "US2frieghtcar" Even rename the folders. Would this work??
I don't think you can replace them, unless you change the needed lines in the WAG files.I personally have done this, because as you said, some of the older stuff falls short now. For me, it is pretty easy, because I only have a few consist, and I know what is in each one, as most of the cars I wanted to get rid of were not being used anyway. But if you have a lot of activity files and consist files, you may want to use conbuilder. I keep a pretty lean install, and in doing so, got rid of all of the activity and consist files I never used and then the unused trainset folders. Wiscentral.. You could do it your way but you'd soon be on Prozac... Routeriter and Conbuilder have both got consist replacement tools that will help you no end. For the latest Routeriter...> http://members.optusnet.com.au/virtualtrains/beta6.html (Uninstall the older version first..!!)Georges
