RE: Monon Route troubles....

I know the last time something like that happened to me, it was because I still had to run the .exe's from the other files. I wish I could be of more help, but I installed it a few weeks ago, ran it and then deleted it. Try reading the instructions again, or re-installing it, or maybe someone else might have a better idea. Sorry I can't be of more help.Chris Bogley

Monon Route troubles – image 3

I installed the MONON....its one of my favorites....had no problems with it....the situation you describe sounds to me like you don't have all 6 routes in your ROUTES folder, or your MSTS install is somewhere else than the default location...Check to make sure all 6 routes are there and then run the batch file again...I have installed this route 4 times and every time the install went without a hitch....Frank

RE: Monon Route troubles....

Unzip all 4 zip files to a single folder - you should have an exe file and 3 other files that end in 1, 2 and 3. Then run the exe and it should install without a problem. I am assuming that the folder you are installing to is the MSTS/Route folder. Since you are not copying files from the default route something else is wrong. Corrupt download possibly?Ken

Jeremy,Don't know what OS you're using but under XP sometimes it is necessary to run the installme more than once, in fact I have run it 3 times on some routes, to get it to copy all the required files. As for RouteRiter, if you run a check on the route it will tell you what files you are missing. It would help if you could be more specific as to what error messages you are gettting; as the more information you give the group the more likely a solution to the problem can be found.Edit: BTW do you happen to be running Train Store? If you are, have you unstored all 6 default routes before running the installme?Ken

RE: Monon Route troubles....

Jeremy,When you run the check route in RouteRiter does the report show any missing files? And from what it looks like with the error messages you are showing, the install of the route is faulty as the missing files are from the default routes. Here is what I recommend - delete the entire Monon folder from the MSTS Route folder and reinstall the route and run the install me. I usually don't install a new route directly into MSTS, I set up a seperate directory and unzip/install the route to that folder. When that is done I move the folder to the MSTS Route folder and run the installme, if there is one. If you still have problems after that, I would suggest redownloading the route to make sure you don't have a corrupt download.Ken

RE: Monon Route troubles....

Jeremy,Unless you have a problem on the reinstall of the Monon route, there is no need to download. Many times an install will not complete as it should and the only way to correct it is to remove the bad install, reboot the system and reinstall. Try the reinstall first - I and many others have installed this route without any problems so I suspect you just got a bad install. In fact, that is what your original post points me to.Ken

RE: Monon Route troubles....

Hi Jeremy,
It seems as though that might indicate you didn't get a good download, if that is in the initial install, and not the subsequent batch file. Did you have a slow download and have to reconnect? Try downloading while you are around the computer to make sure it does not disconnect during the download. You may need to change the time to stay connected?
This route works fine for me and I run it quite often, and it has a lot of options to explore. I think you will like the result if you hang in till your issues are resolved.
Hope this helps,
Bob

RE: Monon Route troubles....

Jeremy,From your last 2 posts it sounds like you definately have a bad download. Before you redownload all 4 files here is something you can try. If you have WinZip installed, go the the directory you have the 4 files, highlight them one at a time and if it's a good file it should tell you have many files are in the zip - if it's bad it will tell you so. That way you can download again only the bad zips. If that's a problem, PM me with your email and I'll contact the author of the route to get his permission to burn the files onto a CD and send it to you.Ken
