I'm starting this thread to keep everyone up to date on the new trailers I'm creating for my RTTX flatcars. When I get done with the trailers, I'll need to get some input on what combinations of trailers to make for the cars. Keep in mind that trailers are usually in random order, and two of the same scheme are the exception rather than the rule. For now, I'm primarly working on just 45' trailers. The new trailers so far are as follows:TIP 45'
SP 45' clean
MO-PAC
ATSF
Transamerica-silver
Transamerica-white billboard
Transamerica-white plain
Preferred Pool
Preferred 45 - Avalico
Preferred 45 - Milwaukee Road
BNZ - Kansas City
BNZ - St. Paul
BNZ - ChicagoMore to come....

RE: New Trailers

Hey Ted,
Exellent work. Could I make a small request please. I see you made some Schieder Trailors in apwell cars, could you make some up on RTTX flatcars?? I you could , but would you considered them please? Maybe take a few of your International cab-overs and paint them orange and put in a apwell car

RE: New Trailers

The schnieder trailers are 53' long, and only one fits on a flatcar. I have some plans for using longer trailers on future projects. So You'll have to wait for now. Anyways, I finally got some stuff for you eastern folks. Conrail

RE: New Trailers

Ted if you could put some of those 53 footers on the RTTX it would be great. I see alot of 53' trailers on 89'railcars. The other end is empty. I don't know... jsut a thought.

RE: New Trailers

New Trailers – image 33

Ill shed a little light on some of those trailers for you Ted. From the looks of it the Bekins is being transfered somewhere. As to the Premier transportation and the Raven trailers those are brand new trailers being delivered on rail. Ive picked these up before in my career. Notice the wood bolted to the trailer where the lifts would pick it up to avoid damage. On normal intermodal trailers there would be an extra strip of steel to protect them as is evident on the Schneider and UPS and rail trailers. Anyway this is how trailer manufacturers transport new trailers across the country as it wont put miles on a trailer prior to delivery to a customer.

Ted....you are the man!!!!I love the UPSZ pups.......the older ones, that is....used to see them on the Capital Sub back in the early 90s on CSX...Can a make a request?I'd love to see more combinations involving the Seaboard System trailers,..and Chessies...........and, any chance of a CSX trailer with the block style lettering? As I recall, the paint on your didn't last very long in the whole CSX painting plan...........after all that, I'm telling you, ...just, awesome. Payware quality.-Jeffrey

I echo everyone else's sentiments Ted, awesome, fantastic work on these flats/trailers and the all-purpose wells. These new flats will definitely go into my freightcar pool to make my CSX and NS intermodal trains even better. Keep up the great work! And as an add-on here, I agree that we need some 53' trailers on flats, as well as some 53' well cars, so I can load some STAX containers for my CSX Q trains. RE: New Trailers

What we really need are some better spine cars with 48' and 53' trailers. I mean think about it, we really don't have very many in the files area, and what we do have, really is not all that great. Come on Ted, what do you say...how about some spine cars oh great one?Chris Bogley

RE: New Trailers

I do have the photos that would be useful for all kinds of intermodal equipment, including a variety of spine cars. But they are not next on my list. I would like to do some more non-intermodal equipment, although intermodal is still lacking in useful model by the greatest margin. My goal has been to replace all the defualt models with better models. Still got a little ways to go to meet that goal.Ted Curphey

Excellent work Ted..............you usually come through with good freight cars, and this does a lot for my Newark & Jersey City and NECv4 which I am running in the 60-70's era when TOFC cars were the norm. How about these trailers:SAL "Razorback"
N&W "Hamburger" herald
PC
PRR "Truc-Train"
CNJ "statue Liberty"
LV
NH "Trailliner" (silver/orange herald or orange/blk-white herald)Doug

RE: New Trailers

And to round out the current crop of trailers, I finish with a UPS 40' drop frame trailer, and a 28' straight box with the new logo. Now, I'm looking for specific suggestions on combinations of trailers you would like to see in the set. Such as a Southern van with a Seaboard van, and so on. I would like to steer clear of double sets, or two of the same trailer on the same car. Except for a few popular schemes, it was uncommon to see two trailers of the same scheme on the same car. I will make a double Santa Fe van set, but I'm going to put all the BN city trailers with other trailers. Two "city" trailers on the same car was a rare sight indeed. I will probably only make a few more trailers before turning to make a few sets of trailers and containers on the cars. I do have plans for more 89' flatcars though, and those will be coming along shortly.Ted Curphey

I can't help you much with combo suggestions, other than to say, mix them up as you wish. I didn't seriously get into trains till 2001, and by then, things had changed with the advent of the 53' trailer and spine cars and other newer intermodel equipment.Chris Bogley
