I have just reinstalled the UP Steam following a disk drive crash. I also installed the bbpatch. When I load an activity with one of the engines, in cabview 1 there is excellent sound, but in external views 2 and 4, there are no locomotive sounds - no whistle or bell or piston and smoke sounds. During loading I get an error message- too many streams ... Sound\FScotEng.sms, Line 675.The sound file for each of the nine locomotives contains the following 5 files: !_compressor.wav FScotCab.sms FScotEng.sms X_!_compressor.wav X_!_powercruise).wavAny advice would be greatly appreciated. I would like to get these beautiful locomotives running properly (again).John DeLamater
Hi John –By the look of those sound files (the x_!_ … is the give away) it must be from my work – it’s my patch2bb.zip that you installed over the NALW originals?I’m not sure what the issue is here, and you are the second person that I am aware of with this particular problem. My advice the first time was to make sure that the sound sliders in the Options page are to the right, but I’m not sure if this cured the problem because the person concerned never got back to me.Can you try this and reply? If this is not the issue I’ll see if I can determine the cause over the weekend when I have more time. And of course the obvious question – did they work before your HHD crash? If they did, then the problem may not be with the NALW originals or my patch, but with the way you have set up MSTS this time round.Cheers, Phil
Dear Phil,Thanks very much for your message and suggestion. I checked the sound Options; the first three sliders were at 100 percent, but Sound Quantity was at 50 percent. I increased the Sound Quantity to 100 percent, and it solved the problem. Thanks again.John
